macOS Virtual Machine on Linux With Unique Serial #

In this video I show you how to create an Mac OS Virtual Machine for KVM (On a Linux host) using OSX-KVM
https://github.com/kholia/OSX-KVM
and how to generate a unique serial number and hwid for it using GenSMBIOS

  • Could you also do it at a local store or are they locked down?

  • Okay the fact Linux users want to even run MacOS though…

  • Very interesting info! I do get tired of hearing the ‘apple hardware is too expensive’ repeated constantly. The actual point is that vittualisation means you don’t need another physical machine eliminating much of the cost irrespective.

  • I tried this the other week and the performance was so bad it wasn't usable. It took 20 minutes to get to the setup, and the setup couldn't proceed.

I was using VirtualBox with Ubuntu 22. System in question was an HP 7770 workstation laptop, so it was more than capable. I guess QEMU in a VM is not feasible?

  • Any chance to improve the performance when using a NVIDIA gpu? I was able to install it but performance is really bad.

  • Pretty sure u can edit json and plist files on a Mac with stock Text Edit

  • 4:44 NVIM has started copying to the system clipboard, so when you delete the line, it gets copied into your clipboard, then when you paste it, that line is pasted, so there's no change.
You can set vim.opt.clipboard = "" in your nvim config to stop this.

  • Can we see some investigation on drughub and supermarket working together to get supermarket running after one of the admins ran off with the money?

  • all of this just to send applefvgs an email?

  • I can already see that there are patches missing for the dock since it has those white lines over it.

  • is it just me or he just copypasted the same mac address in the xml? lmaoooo

  • Sir please add more Monero Merch to your store. Monero necklace, flags/poster, mugs and cool sticker maybe. Thanks

  • yo this is faster than doing it on windows 💀wtf I love it! i've always wanted a hackintosh!

  • Lmao im thinking about all the legitimate new macbooks whos serial numbers are hijacked. Cant wait to see how those people feel when apple sells them a product they cant fully use

  • Jesus Christ, the absolute state of things. All these coder assholes trying to patent the vowels when they grow up have completely ruined the entire shared computing experience. I hate coders and professional IT people with such passion for this exact reason. One in a million uses their power for collective good, every other one is in it for the money and boy does it show in the ecosystem of what they have collectively created. I mean gz on your work around but I am so sick of everything working this way. It's like watching bad guys fight. I'm just as annoyed by the protagonists here with that absurd tutorial 16 different vendor steps, and a paywall. It shouldn't be left up to the user to jump through all these flaming hoops. The whole mac emulation project should be taking this on on principal and there should be strong motivation to make the process seamless for end users, but there just isn't because both sides here hate normal people.

  • So who‘s going to tell him that he didn‘t change his mac address but just copied in the already predefined mac address again? 😶‍🌫️

  • Unless someone finds a way to make newer versions of macOS usable on other ARM chips, it's unlikely that these methods will keep working on newer versions of macOS. Qualcomm chips are using ARM as well, but the way the Apple Chips are built is just different so that would require some extra work to emulate the OS.

  • May I ask what operating systems you use? Thanks !

  • I'm skeptical about these macOS KVM tools from GitHub. I tried running macOS on my Linux machine using the macOS-Simple-KVM scripts from GitHub. When I scanned the UEFI firmware with VirusTotal, it detected malware, so I decided to delete the tool.

  • Bro, mental outlaws thumbnails are top notch.

  • MS are crazy.. they just blocklist you without any reason at all! And they unblock after requesting so.. but it's something to do over and over again.. while they can never provide a reason why.. (I never got blacklisted for any other recipient while hosting email myself since 10 years now)

  • Tried for 3 months to get my Mail out of my spam folder with my own domain. Even tried AWS IP's. They just won't let it get through. Even my previous employer often had problems with this.

  • Another very useful video. Interesting that the Apple 'verification' system will recognise when a serial number is used too frequently (too many users) but be totally unable to determine when a serial number is actually applied to a piece of Apple hardware (or not). Not rocket science really but never mind, of course they may see videos like this and tighten up a bit…

  • 4:50 Quick heads up you didn't properly paste the MAC address you copied, in vim when you delete something it replaces what you currently have in your clipboard buffer, making you paste what you just deleted
