11:03 Working with virtual monitors can be quite challenging, especially in terms of fatigue. However, it's fascinating to observe how each generation adapts to the technology prevalent during their time. For those growing up with virtual reality as a norm, a VR workspace might feel completely natural. This generational comfort with technology mirrors past shifts, such as the transition from the minimalist green and black graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to today's advanced GUIs. Older generations often find the modern, feature-rich GUIs overwhelming, as they're used to simpler interfaces where tasks felt more straightforward. Conversely, younger people, who have only known these advanced interfaces, might find the older, more minimalistic GUIs confusing and lacking. It's a cycle of technological adaptation, where each generation finds comfort in the technology that shaped their formative years.
What a good way to watch Youtube videos while driving! What's the legalities of driving while wearing a headset?
I just saw Mark Zuckerberg speaking to Congress. They give the child molester an option whether they continue on to the child porn or seek resources
they give the molester an option. Is there anything else I can do besides Meta really just I can’t buy anything from this puke anymore. He makes me sick. There Hass to be another option, anybody?
Rec room is dying
Got one, love it, very comfortable. Mine does make a very slight buzzing noise when plugged into the headset, does yours do this also?
Great video! Thanks!
To make VR/AR headsets usable as extra displays for PC, we need to remove lots of UX steps required to set it up and make experience seamless. AR headsets should become seamless wearables and wearing one should not distract or discomfort user to the point that it can be used during the whole day. Like bluetooth headphones – you can wear those without noticing.
And also support for external virtual displays or even spatial windowing should be tightly integrated into OS and supported by the headset. Setting up virtual space should be simple and persistent as setting up new monitor – once and forever.
gps?
Or a ship!
Crazy that the Quest is allowed on the airplane while the Microclimate Air 1 and 2 were banned during the pandemic.
I wish they would make a folder for your games instead of having everything installed…!
FINALLY they're fixing that. I was so disappointed when trying to use it in a car and on a plane, practically unusable whereas it was okay with Q2. Looking forward to watching films while on the go
I think this trend companies are taking on of cutting costs where user base is small is extremely anti-consumer. The truth is that we're seeing these streaming companies go from no-ad streaming to then getting that only at a premium (more $ for subscription).
If their all cool with taking value from the consumer, then that's their prerogative, but in another place, like compatibility, you might as well make that premium worth it those consumers so you can at least let them access your less valuable content. The corporate world is made up of straight clowns.
Witht the vacuum app i can see lots of Female getting into vr now 😀 😀 😀 😀
Spot on with working in VR stuff. As a 3D artist myself I sit in front of a computer for 8+ hours straight and doing that in VR would be a nightmare.
Insert AI image "Freddy Mercury vacuuming with a vr headset on". 😂
I returned my Quest 3. They need to fix the glitches/filckering of white pixels on the screen randomly.
What happened to the full body tracking? And the Quest Layout app…
Monke steals trolly – the mystical
Where can AR vacuuming be downloaded? Thanks.
But will Netflix ever update the app on Quest 3?

I hope they would make it work on the rockets, too. Imagine your interface floating with more than 15000km/h back at your face 🤣
Hope they fix crappy passthrough
6:10 you mean all companies in China must have a connection to the CCP or faces charges for operating a business illegally
physical correct occlusion and light on virtual objects in AR is much more important 😉
So frustrating! I’ve been wanting them to fix this for years… nothing. None of the Apple vision pro’s coming out they are planning to “fix” everything now. Watch, even though it’s going to hurt their business, they may allow android apps to run natively in windows on the quest. And I’m not talking about a select a few that you can only download from the quest store. I’m saying full GooglePlay support now that Apple is allowing over 1 million iPhone and iPad apps on their headset.
The IMU gives you spacial acceleration and rotation data. The vibrations and constant changes in speed probably cause the drift. If the vehicle traveled at constant speed, the camera system would counter the accumulated speed and you would be fine. One way to implement airplane mode is to fix the graphics entirely to your headset coordinates (ignore translation and rotation). If you turned your head, it would look like the displays moved with it. More like a HUD than AR. If you keep the rotation data and ignore the position data, you get the same effect I saw in the menus for one of this month's Quest+ games (Nock: Bow+Arrow) where the menus stay at a fixed distance from you, but you can look around. That's also how 3D videos and the street view n Wooorld tend to work and unfortunately I seem to get a bit of motion sickness if I move, but the surroundings only rotate. So…I think we'll have to wait and see how this works. Maybe they can have multiple modes like: regular VR/AR mode (not vehicle compatible), rotation only mode (potentially causing motion sickness) and fixed display mode (only good for whatever FOV you have, but probably not causing any extra motion sickness). They might have to disable passthrough (they probably can't compensate for the camera latency without the IMU data).
Virtually moving IRL objects? This feels like there's a Black Mirror episode about it
Got a popup for uploading Spatial videos yesterday, but it pointed to the Streaming setting. Probably a bug, just wanted to share it
