In this video, Keith Barker covers how to embed rendezvous points inside of a multicast group address. You’ll learn how to train a network to dynamically learn where their rendezvous point is without using BSR or statically configuring that information on multiple routers.
To embed the rendezvous point (RP) inside of a group address, you need to begin with a plan. Select what you want the RP to be by choosing a router and its loopback address, then statically configure that RP. You don’t have to configure any of the other routers on the network, because these will all figure out where the RP is via the multicast group address.
Keith will walk you through each of these steps, paying particular attention to breaking down the multicast group and what each character or group of characters means. By the end of the video, you’ll feel comfortable completing each aspect of this task yourself.
