Microsoft Announces Windows Server 2008 Release Candidate 0 (RC0)

In this Channel 9 video from September 2007, Microsoft project manager Alex Hinrichs and senior program manager Jeff Woolsey discussed the release of Windows Server 2008 Release Candidate 0 (RC0), which was the first feature complete version of the product. Windows Server 2008 was notable for a lot of reasons, but the most important new feature, perhaps, was the Hyper-V virtualization platform, originally codenamed “Viridian.” It is perhaps interesting that Microsoft had yet to brand this feature as of RC0 and that the version that first shipped with Windows Server 2008 was still in beta.
