You can disable the updater by breaking privileges to the updater app in registry editor
The pc is like a house. Microsoft either installs broken windows or breaks the windows they install 😂😂😂
Sorry Microsoft…
All my destops are Win11 compatible, but after switching to ZorinOS on my incompatible laptops, the Win10 end-of-service date is marked on my calender as the date for switching all my computers over to Linux. Extended service agreement is no longer required (should have offered that before I got the chance to see how great the upgrade to ZorinOS is.)
One of those laptops was a 15 year old Core2Duo with a "Built for Windows Vista" label still on the bottom (4GB RAM & 180GB HD). It struggled with both Vista and Win 7. Zorin16 installed without issue, and the laptop is now a VERY speedy word-processing/websurfing computer successfully kept out of India's tech-landfills. It was like getting a brand-new laptop (albeit clunky and heavy to lug around).
Cutting the Microsoft metadata-trawling app/OS cord is even more satisfying than cutting Cable was (and it resurrected a half-dozen old PC'S from their permanent storage). I now have a line of friends asking me to "upgrade" their systems before October 2025.
btw, I carefully peeled off the "Built for Windows Vista" label, and adhered it to my 100 year old cast-iron Underwood typewriter. It seemed oddly fitting. Perhaps, Microsoft's decades-long support for planned-obsolecence has finally come home to roost.
Windows, welcome to obsolecence. My $35 (optional) Zorin Pro was a far greater value than downloading Windows 11 for free.
If Microsoft hasn't fixed Win-10 so it is correct by now, they never will. Updates should have stopped long ago. In my kitchen, I have a toaster and a microwave that have never been updated. Why would I need an update on a machine used for watching cat videos.
Microsoft successfully becoming the threat.
I cant stand windows 😫 im not even a linux or mac os user.
I just want to play games in peace.
I disabled update until I'm ready to update. I don't let MS decide. With stuff like this, it might remain disabled.
Worked for me
The only "current threat" is microsoft themselves.
need the link for the update bro
I don't understand, if they made such a great product why would they need to badger users about unsupported version?
thanks for the report.💡
Can't MS leave Windows 10 in peace? Forget new features and avoid errors!
Na, I got the error this time. There is a way to remove this update from downloading but I can't be bothered as it is harmless.
This update broke a recent previous update that added spotlight to my Win10 desktop. This update has removed the desktop spotlight option. The lock screen spotlight is still in place.
Wonderful. [adjust sarcasm to taste]
I haven't got that update on mine yet but I only got was (KB5037768) today
I think I might get the (KB5001716) soon
