It makes no sense to buy the none pre-build then

  • please make hinge screen like Microsoft surface laptop studio i really want framework have touchscreen with hinge like that

  • Okay, give it a shot. A mobile workstation was my goal. For that I need an nvidia gpu. They do not have that. End of story :-/

I am still trying to find a place for it in my life though. Keep on lads!

  • Framework is really a good project, expensive but so ecological

  • I mean, I’m sure they were objective. But having your employees review a product their boss is invested in doesn’t seem like that best solution lol

  • Give me 5090 then i may think about it …

  • Yep, this is stellar👏 Not that I instantly want one, but it sure makes all the "fancy&mighty" Macbook Pros I owned feel utterlly miserable, with all their soldered RAM and storage :/

  • Cmon. I've disassembled Clevo p870 and x170 numerous times, including gpu mxm boards and cpu swaps. Its not as fast as here, but there is no problem at all for average user.

Wish they make a 17" with socketed desktop CPUs, and that will be my dream laptop

  • Jake just made the most cool allegory calling the framework "the laptop of Theseus"

Wish I had 2k dollars, which is too expensive for Brazil 🙁

    But, BOY I WISH

  • dude i have a dell latitude 7490 with a i5 8450U and intel uhd 620, 16gb ddr4 and 256gb ssd

  • stop sending me popup advertisements, especially when I'm watching in full screen!! 🙁

  • haaahhahaha, I have the same Lenovo Legion Slim 7i. I shall use this rare opportunity to DUNK on the stupidest invention ever put in a laptop: TOBII EYE TRACKER !!! SOCK IIIIIIT !!!! tl;dr it cannot be removed from this Lenovo laptop because it's baked in the freakin Lenovo Vantage app the obviously I need to configure the backlit RGB keyboard and power modes and other stuff.

  • 17:16 Am I the only one when hearing the name of this sponsor thought of?
The Black Eyed Peas singing in Sims busting out.😂

  • It would be a fresh change if more companies moved to modularity in the laptop arena. I can say that I'm letting my money vote for me investing in a company that I know is offering easy repairability and right to repair by buying a Framework 16 laptop.

Basically, if it flops (which it isn't so far based on what I see) then we all suffer the same companies making more of the same cost cutting unrepairable bricks they make now, not naming any names (*pple).

  • who keeps doing the weird colour correction on recent videos? everyones lips look blue and skin tone of white people are overly red. its weird. its the only channel that does it, and old linus vidoes dont look like this

  • 7:45 Now behold: The PDBrick (from CCCamp23). A whopping 1.7kilowatts of raw USB-C PD power!

  • I think it's important to note that you could buy it without gpu if you don't have the money all at one time. Then you could buy the GPU down the line. This is a great argument for a college student that urgently needs a laptop but can't afford one with a discrete gpu from the get go. If you went with an ordinary laptop you would be SOL down the line of you need a gpu compute for a class or project.

  • Microspeakers will never sound good by themselves. You need software that drives them way over their passive limit, watches out so they don't melt and overall compensates for their limitations.

  • I've been intrigued by this company since its inception. I love their design philosophy, and the apparent quality of their product. Needless to say, when they introduced a gaming laptop I was wildly enthusiastic. BUT, I game at home on a desktop; I use laptops when I travel, and space is at a premium. I don't necessarily have room for extra devices. I'm also a left-handed gamer. I depend on the arrow keys for all of my movement. That's kind of hard with tiny little half-sized arrow keys. This is what's kept me from buying one of these machines from the start. I thought when they released a gaming laptop it would include real arrow keys. Without them I don't see how you can realistically call this a gaming laptop. Sorry, no sale.

As an update to these points, Framework has just recently sent out an email to their Framework 16 preorder holders in which they specifically call out these issues/concerns stating that a color gamut concern will be tackled via a driver update that press units didn't ship with, the display alignment issue will be fixed for consumer units simply because to get press units shipped, they bypassed that particular step of quality control in the manufacturing process, and finally they acknowledged the keyboard deck deflection and noted the work around deployed by LTT and will be investigating ways of improving the rigidity of the deck and if a new revision must be made, they will make the improvements and ship the necessary parts required to deploy the fix to customers who's units have already shipped.

Overall, love to see this response from Framework, it just further illustrates their care for the product as well as their customers and shows that they don't shy away from taking into account user/reviewer criticism.

  • If they could make 14 inch or 15 inch version of this (yes I understand that you can't fit all these inside a smaller chassis, but preferably with minor sacrifices) that weighs less than 2kg, I'd buy it instantly. I want a decent sized screen but not the weight and that's what's making me hesitant to invest in this. Hopefully they release one in the next 2 years.

  • the matrix bars would be awesome if designed to show bar graphs displaying cpu and mem usage or temps.

  • And you bought the tenkeyless keyboard … what the heck is the point of having a full-sized laptop and using 4/5ths of a keyboard?

  • 16 years later RIley kids will be like: "Dad, I have some questions"

  • stop complaining about the price my guy, it just sound petty

  • We must admit that they failed to create a 16-inch laptop. But we need to support them; the company is new and mistakes are understandable. I still love that company.

  • I’m actually really mad we didn’t get a completely BIAS Linus review 😢

  • Sad I love the keyboard on my 13 so much, it is even better than every macbook keyboard i had (including 14" M1)

  • I Hope for more GPU available on framework 16
