My Linux Desktop Running UBUNTU MATE 20.04 with Compiz Fusion
Compiz – is a compositing window manager for the X Window System, using 3D graphics hardware to create fast compositing desktop effects for window management. Effects, such as a minimization animation or a cube workspace, are implemented as loadable plugins. Because it conforms to the ICCCM standard, Compiz can be used as a substitute for the default Mutter or Metacity, when using GNOME Panel, or KWin in KDE Plasma Workspaces. Internally Compiz uses the OpenGL library as the interface to the graphics hardware.
Compiz Fusion – is the result of a merge between the well-known Beryl composite window manager and Compiz Extras, a community set of improvements to the Compiz composite window manager. Compiz Fusion aims to provide an easy and fun-to-use windowed environment, allowing use of the graphics hardware to render each individual window and the entire screen, to provide some impressive effects, speed and usefulness.

I love the effects. I can use the cube to separate different tasks. The best thing is that I can run that cube in a very old laptop that doesn't even have a discrete graphics card! Using Linux Mint Mate here.
Do you know why Compiz is not working for me.. I have 20 installed onto a 120gb SDD external. iI can select all the effect, but none of them work?
I used to use Ubuntu/Kubuntu with Compiz back in 2007 and I don't see any difference in that or the stuff in this video.
I just popped in to see if there were any improvements. I use Windows 7. I don't care about the animations anymore.
I love Gnome, but how can I run Compiz on Gnome 3xxx with out switching DE ? Sure I can run CCSM on KDE, MATE, XFCE and as you shown LXQT, but I wanna be able to run it on GNOME. Any Ideas ?
