  • Nice to see that you're still at it, IG. You, Spatry, and one other Arch/Manjaro guy (forgot his name lol) influenced me to switch to Linux in 2014ish. It has been a decade now and I think you're the only one that's still active. Keep it up!

  • Man it's favorite distro, I like the whole vibe but Cinnamon is starting to look a bit dated.

  • i would have liked to see more changes, nemo still cannot change the size of icons in the left pane, there are too many themes installed and almost none offer coloured icons in nemos left pane. i don't use mate so no comment there. xfce looks loverly as usual but i could not resize the menu using the mouse ! i currently use xfce 21.2 coz .3 showed too many errors in the log file, after install and daily use i could see an error for md5 check failed to start on live iso ! so i went back to 21.2. that might have been fixed by now, i don't know. i'm whinging i know, but it's a damn fine distro, but it could be so much better with fine tuning.
    thanks and cheerio

  • An accurate description, is that Hexchat's author has sunset it's development. So Mint decided not to go forward with a now unsupported app. Less FUD, more INFORMATION.

  • What version should I download now? i just want to get to work on my brave

  • Might we dare hope that bluetooth will work again? Seemed it went loco two versions ago.

  • If you don't special install the BETA will it just be normally updated in one of the rolling updates to what Mint version you are already running?

  • Good video, thanks mate (from Libya). I've used Mint for years on and off. I now use it at work (my organisation uses windows but I use the web apps or other clients to allow me to connect). I stayed using windows again this week and it drove me crazy with frustration.

  • Is there any harm to our SSD if we frequently flashing means within 2 day new flashing

  • Just switched from Fedora GNOME to Mint Cinamon. Only complait I have is the lack of system-wide search

  • Will it be possible to upgrade from the previous version or will it need to be a fresh install?

  • I'm just letting you know that your hand makes the thumbnail look like Peta instead of beta

  • I am so glab and lucky that the one distro that from the longest time even before i got interested in linux itself becoming so good especialy the moment i wanna switch to it, nice. Thanks for so clean and informative video man.

  • I dont use windows now. linux mint and zoring is my daily drive no..

  • We need you now more then ever as Mac OS and windows integrate ai spyware

  • Do you use Mint with EXT4? I really wished the installer had a BTRFS option, instead you need to manually partition the thing

  • Always find IG vids informative. Please don't be so concerned about overexposure-once every six months is NOT too much.
    😉

  • That is a big leap for the kernel. I run an older machine with Mint Cinnamon, but even my LMDE 6 machine's Kernel is only 6.1.0-22 as of the update I did today. Nice initial review of Mint 22. 👍 Also, Welcome back.

  • 10:23 "Patrick Griffis (aka “Tingping”), known for his work on many open-source projects (GNOME, Flatpak, Gnome-MPV, Meson, etc.), announced the end of the Hexchat project: […]

In Linux Mint, Hexchat has been the default IRC client since 2014.

Before that Linux Mint shipped with Xchat, which Hexchat was based on. I can’t remember the last time we shipped without an IRC client, if we ever did.

Going forward, since Hexchat is discontinued, we need to either remove it from the default selection or replace it with another application."

Not because "IRC as a protocol is getting quite ancient now"

  • As a Linux Mint 21.3 user will there be an easy risk free upgrade path to Linux Mint 22 ?.

  • I noticed Adwaita was removed from the theming options when I was playing with the live boot last night. That sucks since I like to use it.

  • Really am hoping that there is an easy in-place way to upgrade to this new release once it's out. I've replaced Windoze on a few of my client's machines with Mint and would be a shame if it required a full reinstall.. Update automation is on in the Update Manager.

  • Hey nice to see you back 😅 will be watching out for your valued content on the channel which I really enjoy so please don't drift off like many other channels have done on ere 👍

  • I like Linux Mint but I always find myself coming back to Pop!_OS. For me, it's the best distro out there especially for Intel CPU PCs. ❤

  • I'm very excited about LM 22, because my hardware is really new, and because of that, LM 21 with old kernel just simply can't boot on my computer.

I tried LM Edge, and it was working, but because of Graphic drivers issue, it was lagging so much as if I had 30-60 Hz on 144 Hz monitor, not to mention that it's gaming laptop and I want to run some games on it, and games couldn't load at all.

Distros like ubuntu which I tried in my experiences was very laggy, and I had not very good experience with other distros, but I used LM Xfce like a couple of months on my old spare laptop before and I loved it because of it's stability and lightweight.

  • Cinnamon's default start menu is the most hideous thing ever. XFCE's much more pleasant

  • I really want to switch to Linux, however, the transition must be made more seamless. Lutris, Wine, Steam os, all is fine but still doesnt make it usable for new users. Gamers are probably the most numerous users that would switch if it was more easily adapted to the expensive and most popular games ported to windows. The only other option is to start petitioning game devs to port to linux as well. More and more people everyday are getting disgusted with windows shenanegans. Now is the time to address this, not sometime in the future, unless the majority of the Linux community doesnt want an influx of former windows usersin order to protect their domain. Ive tried to get linux to get many of the games running from windows with some support from savvy linux guru's to find out that the games bring me back to the choppiness of the Commodore 64 days. My only alternative is to use the available games on steam ported for Linux. I will dual boot in the mean time. I play Farm sim22, Automation Empire, Planetbase, and Subnautica Below Zero. Nothing like them or in that vein for linux. So, in summary, I will patiently wait for newer develpements. Thanks to all those that helped me try to get linux to work for my games and make me realize the real answer may be to have game devs make linux versions of their games. Sorry for the big rant but i want to switch and leave windows in the dust more as a way of protesting than anything.

  • Not a mint user but I watched just beacuse your videos are really nice.
