• There's plenty of cool trans people but that's not what this is, this is some mixture lunacy and totalitarianism

• Dear good people/those who know more about NixOS, I'd been considering this distro for daily use but held off on installing it on real hardware. Is it still a good idea to learn? If not, what would you recommend instead?

• I hope that the BSDs look at this and learn; I really like having a personal OS, that works, that get patched when exploits are found, and I went with OpenBSD and FreeBSD when I found SystemD to look like a clown show, and now this clown show with witch hunts just hammers it in.

• I liked our communities better when they were focused on pragmatism and were truly pluralistic .

• Even though I’m not a fan of the short sighted way this was handled, I believe this snowballed because someone (who was a senior contributor) essentially said that Israel should kill as many civilians as they want until hamas is defeated.

  Generally speaking I think a lot of calls for censorship are usually based on some kind of tenuous attribution of racism. While I don’t agree with idea of permanently removing someone from a community over something like that, it is actually a pretty messed up thing to say about a group of people.

• I’m a big boy who won’t let ideology or politics get in the way of me using genuinely good technology. Even with all the nonsense, NixOS is too good to give up on.

• This connects with another of your videos. Open source is capitalist in nature, as you own the power to license it, you have the admin passwords and so on. Now these people want a communist system so they can sieze control of things and implement their bs that no one wants. Because they can't fully succeed with this in a capitalist system they try to change the rules to a communist one. If you have no ownership, then they can have their way with it, because you don't own it after all. They = people who won't create or contribute anything themselves, who primarily want attention and influence and envy others percieved to have it. Self entitled people who want to be seen as important and adopts any contrarian and destructive stance as tool to oppose anyone percieved to have influence.

• This activism is disgusting, the activists can never produce anything good or beautiful, so they just keep usurping other people's projects to maintain power. What a bunch of narcissistic bastards.

• The wonderful thing in open source is results matter and politics don't. If I don't like something, I can make my own and there's always a community willing to fork or make drop in replacement. I've been following this trend in gaming and how games are being ruined by identity politics etc. While they could do this with companies, I think open source would not be subject the same. No one likes their bs and they can only make it relevant by force. In open source there is no central entity they can infiltrate to gain power. They will just be ignored and live in the ruins of whatever project they destroyed, while real people find ways to make real stuff.

• Don't allow your project to become a democracy. Be the BDFL and retain exclusive rights to the name and URLs. Be like Linus.

• I'm glad to see a lot of comments acknowledge the real danger(s) that this poses. If this is DEI etc and only that then, pay attention to what they say, especially to each other. They want to get rid of capitalism, private property, parental rights and institute socialism and communism. It's easy to just debunk them but that prevents people who oppose these ideas from learning their real agenda.

  Perhaps companies that want to stop open source from impacting their bottom line are involved too. But I wonder if the two groups are interconnected.
