• I was the first 4090 Alex repaired and people gave me such shit for breaking the connector. It has been a little over a year and I am happy to report 0 issues since the repair, imagine that. I recently sent him a win gpd 3 handheld, curious if he can fix it! (Many issues unfortunately)

• I have 4080 FE and this video makes me want to ask. Is 4080 or, rather, any other card can potentially have the same problem with the connector? I'm asking this because I've seen a lot of connector repair on 4090 but not on any other GPU.

• the whole 12vhpwr connector should be scrapped and redesigned.. its junk.. too small for 16 pins/wires not to mention feeding 600 watts of power… period.. why does it need to be tiny??? double its size or make it 50% bigger and leave pinout the same.. problem solved.

• With so many similar issues arise from the same model it strongly shows the evidence of failed PCB design and/or manufacturing. There are also many who complains about the bad connector design for RTX 4090. This model should be taken from public as soon as possible in order to save NVidia face otherwise the reputation damage can be severe.

• Why couldn't they simply use XT60PW connector for power? It can do 60A and is well tested with drones!

• And this is why I've been holding off installing a 4090 that I've had for over a year now. I'm tempted but hesitant my 6900XT has been reliable no issues.

• That connector isn't designed to handle that mechanical stress. Since you're usually in an awkward position when plugging it in, all the counter force comes from those soldered-on pins. Maybe a kind of crimping tool to hold onto the plastic and the connector could solve this installation problem.

• The reason why so many 4090 cards came in is because greedy Huang refuse a refund, replacement, or repair. Greedy Bastard!

• Is low melt just a higher lead mix? Ive been wondering as ive got unleaded solder, 3 different types and 1 leaded, and i know leaded is 60/40 tin/lead…

• Nvidia really messed up in 40 series.

• It’s called “Founders Edition” because you will found a cracked board or burned connector.

• I don’t think the reason is when the connector is plugged in; it is more when users close the lid of their cases. Over time the heat and pressure from the lid on the power cable, the connector bends; these cards are so big and to make things worse, the card connector faces the case lid. You need a 90 adapter facing up so the weight of the cable doesn't add load to the card or connector. Poor design but you can make it workz

• 2:00 Yeah, was my exact thought when I saw the mangled connection. Bloody connector was a fairly big reason I went amd this generation. Hopefully things will be better for next gen.
