I really don't trust crypto bros at this point. I'll give that project a fair chance, but I'm not hopeful.
Android is immune to the VPN vulnerability? That's crazy.
Playtron sounds worse than Stadia as far as Linux gaming devices go. I wouldn't give it any more attention.
Microsoft been real quiet since this dropped 😂😂😂😂
But they’d be fine ffs Desktop Linux is still a big mess rn
wait, for real? nvidia open source?
wait wtf. never expected from nvidia.
Won't lie, open source of NVIDIA drivers would be great, however AMD has done so much for open source I probably would find it difficult to vote with my wallet any other way until NVIDIA start doing more.
Doubt that tunnelvision would work with the iptables rules I use when start the VPN.
linux & open source news is literally just a compilation of how Linux is getting better and better by the day
I love that Cosmic and POP are coming from my state!
Nvidia going open sourse just made my day. Although I use an AMD GPU when I upgrade, I was going to go intel for AV1 encoding support. Nvida keeps doing good things to get me to buy there gpu's which if they keep this up and Nvida GPU's work as well as AMD gpu's ill say fuck it and just buy Nivida.
I assume NVidia going open source has more to do with their primary business venture, AI, than their secondary business venture, graphics cards for gaming.
crypto+mixed-source=background-mining
Nvidia and mux switch is still a broken mess
Now they're adding context menus. I switched to Dioxus because of that (ended up making my own html context menu but works).
801 partners who have all their own privacy statements, happy reading :D. i guess they share with their partners and their partner's partners too
Thumbdown for the click-bait
I watch your videos to study English because I can understand you well, and I want you to publish a video daily! 😀
It seems what is convenient for them for the desktop drivers. I think they maintain their advantage and thus proprietary drivers for the NVIDIA GRID drivers, for the desktop it probably does not matter anymore.
re the Pogo players: hey if they want to draw weird map data let them.
I am, however, concerned, that there's no process for getting map data into that app other than expecting Pogo players to just, kinda.. do it *for free*?
Like since when is it the responsibility of a random Pogo player to map things out accurately?
Open-source yes, free software not quite. There's still a dependency on binary blobs, so the Trisquel and Parabola folks are still in the same square.
Playtron being backed by crypto companies? Yeah, I'll stick with Bazzite.
I use Qubes OS mainly with my VPN client in a proxy VM, so I think I'm probably OK, not that I was relying on VPNs that much anyway.
I wouldn't worry about Flutter future. It's currently too big to die, it's a healthy OSS prokext. I still think it is not a bad choice for desktop development for Canonical
Is Valve planning a collaboration with Nvidia with all that push towards open source.
Does this mean Wayland and NVIDIA will start to work well together in the near future?
never clicked so fast in my life, SOMEONE PINCH ME
finally
Out of kernel tree module means that AMD is still better on Linux.
OpenStreetMap deserves all the grief it gets since they're banning users who change Crimean metadata to Ukrainian, not RuZZian.
PLEASE let it be backported to older gpus, I think it'd be fun forking it and improving the drivers of my own gpu (tesla nvs 3100) (laptop)
Awesome stuff.
Personal opinion though? You can completely skip and ignore the PlaytronOS stuff. No need to waste time on scams.
I'm sorry to have to say this, but I cannot endure those hand movements. It really annoys me.
FYI NVIDIA is has been doing quite some hire of FOSS maintainers of famous packages like NumPy, SciPy, NetworkX, etc. The goal being to support their work and of course give them the tools so they can better support NVIDIA GPUs in these libraries (e.g. through Array API standard support)
7:30 Annoying how folks keep spreading broken phone sensationalist fud. It not a VPN apocalypse that everyone seems to parrot, with out reading original sources.
This is linux new, we out to know how dhcp works, how to check setup ip routes, how to set static ips. Bit more research and things like network namespaces or even just some local iptables rules can be used…
nvidia what?
TL:DR: Opensource, but not fully yet
Too late for Macs. Apple went Metal and will never use Nvidia again 😢
Considering the number of large big data visualization customers using nvidia on linux im surprised its taken this long.
had hope for playtron os until the part where they backed by crypto companies…
Thank you.
Every time I watch Nick’s video and all the information he provides, it’s like the Joe Rogan experience for Linux
Very happy about Nvidia, I wonder how much of this is tied to their AI plays
Yes perfect start to Sunday morning. Excited about Cosmic progress.
Regarding the VPN attack: couldn't you do a traceroute to verify that the traffic actually goes through the VPN and block access/notify the user if it doesn't?
Are they even trying to merge it into the kernel?
so basically amd is trash and dead now? cuz even if they are open source their drivers drive me crazy. broken video playback is only partially fixed for my 7800xt saphire pulse. 23.12.1 through 12.4.1 this problem persists….in the last 2 adrenaline version is not happening all the time anymore. but still have problems
12:47 now we just need a Steam Controller 2 and we're set !
So…how long until Pokémon fans start contributing to NVIDIA’s open source kernel modules to give themselves unfair advantages while anti-Pokémon people deliberately introduce regressions to spite them? 😋
