OSI Model – Module 1 – Free Network+ Training

Module 1 – OSI Model
In this module, we will look at the OSI model, understand its layers and how it applies to networking. It is one of the most important fundamentals to networking, so it is well worth understanding fully.
We will also review what is involved with encapsulation of data transmissions, using the OSI model to visualize it. This will help you understand what the headers are (at a high level) and how they get embedded into the final transmissions.
Below are timestamps for you:

00:00 – Intro
00:18 – OSI Model Overview
02:18 – OSI Model Layers
06:50 – OSI Model Layer Functions: Layer 7
08:11 – OSI Model Layer Functions: Layer 6
09:11 – OSI Model Layer Functions: Layer 5
10:31 – OSI Model Layer Functions: Layer 4
12:00 – OSI Model Layer Functions: Layer 3
13:07 – OSI Model Layer Functions: Layer 2
14:27 – OSI Model Layer Functions: Layer 1
15:21 – Encapsulation process
21:21 – PDUs: Protocol Data Units
