EP 178: Our boat is EMOTIONAL

We get ready to move over to our new anchorage spot (Prickly Bay) Our plan is to try every anchorage out in Grenada as we have all the time to do so since we will be stuck her for hurricane season. We were excited to move over to the next bay and explore what it has to offer with just being a hop skip and jump away from our old anchorage (it had cool amenities such as volleyball & tennis) 🤣 Our scooter gave us some problems once again but Ricky eventually came out to changing the spark plug again and shes good as new and ready to go. Once it got sorted we headed off to buy some fresh fruit and vegetable & try the street food (grilled corn and watermelon everywhere.. we were in heaven)

  • I think it’s funny/odd , I grew up using a CQR ANCHOR and we had our issues but it always worked pretty good but we were always in murky water cold water so there was no diving on the anchor.
    now everybody’s using these so-called hi tech ANCHORs yet they will have to try and find a perfect bottom to anchor On and then check it by diving. If I could dive on a CQR I’m sure I Could secure it just fine in most conditions!

  • Word of caution:

    I saw you use a D-shackle on the bridle.
    It is cheap and easy to use. No problem.

    If you get one hard jerk in stormy conditions though, that bends the D-shackle bolt, you will not be able to remove it or to anchor up.

    In calm conditions, no problem to repair. In emergency situations you will face a dramatic chain of events when you cannot anchor up.

    Consider a gated clevis hook, mantus hook or similar contraption I suggest.

  • I hope you you get sorted out with your dingy, if you were planming to come down to curacao we could help you out for sure with a refurbished dingy we use old hulls and put brand new tubes on them and they stay like new for half of the price of a new one or cheaper @rhibrepaircuracao this is our page hope you guys have a good tike on the sea enjoying the caribbean and if one day you planning to come down to curacao check us out we are more than happy to help or show you around👍

    There is much contrived and fake drama on the YTs.
    Keep it real and if you want, keep it "lite". Life is an adventure, not a destination.

    Also, once you are done with the Bahamas, after several years of sailing the Carribean – you can go to Florida (like a less deadly Australia). Florida also has more amusement parks! Then you can take the gulf stream up to Bermuda – and complete the triangle!

    Then, maybe Portugal, Azores, Canaries and back! (maybe not in that order)
