This video configures and demonstrates common DNS problems with Active Directory domain setups along with benchmarking the symptoms of each type of common setup error.
The tests of DNS shown are:
-A standard and working efficiently DNS setup.
-The active directory server (domain controller) set to use root hints.
-The active directory server (domain controller) set to a forwarder that isn’t responding.
-The router set to loop back queries to the active directory domain controller
Discussion on why you don’t want “split” dns settings (DNS1 set to internal and DNS2 set to external, e.g. ISP or OpenDNS).
And at the end of the video
-The active directory server (domain controller) set to multiple forwarders that are not responding.
An episode in a series of videos on how to install and configure a basic windows NT domain network.
