Part1 of IPv6 Configuration on pfSense with Teksavvy ISP Static IPv6 Configuration

How to configure pfSense with my ISP’s modem/router so that you may connect to the internet using IPv6.

I’m virtualizing pfSense on VMware Workstation 10.

Part 1 Shows you how to configure your computer using a static IPv6 address configuration to get on to the internet.

  • /64 is huge? Sorry but that's not huge. That's the size you should allocate to one host. not to a network. For a home network a /56 or even /48 is more suitable.

  • Is this tutorial still OK with Teksavvy ? I'm able to get an IPv6 from the WAN using DHCPv6 on the WAN side, but I can't configure a static IPv6 address on the LAN side. I configured /64 on the WAN side but when I configure the LAN side with /64, I get this from pfSense :

IPv6 address AAAA:BBBB:CCCC::1/64 is being used by or overlaps with: WAN (AAAA:BBBB:CCCC::d008/128)

(I have replaced the caracters to keep some privacy!)

I understand the overlaps, but I am wondering how you were able to achieve it in your tutorial without that overlaps warning…

    Thanks !

  • One thing. This vid should be called "pfsense IP6 to IP4. Or IP6 LAN to IP4 WAN". Sorry to say but this does fix what I need. I already have a full ip6 address on my WAN. I just need to config ip6 on LAN.
