I live in India
We got GTA 6 Trailer before Linux Mint Cinnamon gets Wayland Support 💀
I'm living in Haute-Loire, and as a French it's very strange to watch a French speaking English, at least I totally understand what you are saying 😆
Stability, refinement and minimalist system bloat is key in taking on MS. I am currently experimenting with Linux Mint Cinnamon on an older top of the line Gigabyte Aorus laptop from 2017, with Nvidia GTX970 x2 in SLI 12Gb Vram though I have never played a single game on it, used exclusively for content creation and the laptop is too good to throw out because gigabyte ditched driver and firmware support really early thus making MS Windows buggy to use with every major feature update, How ever everything in Linux Mint works as it should, except for keyboard backlighting and the proprietary Nvidia Drivers won't allow for screen refresh rates run above 60Hz yet the open sourced non proprietary diver does but it looses out on Nvidia control panel features and affects some other programs. Apart from that, Linux desktop has come along way so I'm here to stay for the ride.
What exactly is Secure Boot? And is it really necessary?
Very informative video. Please keep making such news updates videos.
Thanks for all you do!!!
I really like your videos. Keep on going.
I really like the switch to Wayland.
Especially because it frees up development "resources".
As soon as some of the multi monitor problems are solved I'll switch to Linux as a desktop.
Several people in my bubble would switch to Linux, too but there are always problems with such kind of things.
– GSync on multi monitors
– Problems with 3d software and games with multi monitors
– NVidia shortcomings
– Desktop crashes
– …
I know. Not everything can be fixed in simple ways and often it isn't in the hand of the Linux community but the more problems are fixed the more also casual people can switch to Linux.
I would LOVE to see this happen.
I usually used the standard edition of Fedora Workstation for years, but this time I couldn’t stand it and switched to Xfce, because it feels more free and productive for me.
I think, when GNOME developers remove basic things and don't give a choice – this is a very bad practice, but when they remove compatibility for apps – it's even worse.
Why not give us the option to use..?
Maybe a Gnome/KDE spin that still has X11
Watching from New Zealand. Usually next day.
Hello Nick! Here we go from Brazil!🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Well, that's annoying. I just got rid of GNOME, as I couldn't stomach its "quirks" anymore…I'm also curious there being any alternatives to KDE Connect (the alternative to Microsoft Connect).
Scotland!
so it's basically kde 5 1/2
I'll wait another 3 years to switch to wayland. I am a user I shouldn't care about those things.
Extract and delete an archive in a single click? The future is now!
Long-time viewer from Dubuque, Iowa.
Maybe it's only because I'm running multiple displays on an Intel CPU and an NVIDIA GPU and don't live to compile in terminals all day, but from my experience Wayland is very much NOT "in good shape".
I remember those old Unix desktop screenshots with a ton of windows, including an X logo, to show off the multitasking…
Excellent video 👍 Thank you 💜
I'm from Austria.
Dropping X11 and everyone focusing on Wayland will bring a big boost to get the remaining Wayland issues fixed. Then nobody will miss X11 anymore.
Unfortunately I think this push to get everyone and every distro on Wayland, even if some applications have to be manually configured to use xwayland is just going to lead to a resurgence in people thinking Linux is too difficult and not for average users.
Wayland gnome is the sexiest thing ever.
The PCSX one of Wayland sure sounded weird, I agree; I mean, I know nothing about the thing the text spoke of and I'd have to do A LOT to test it for myself, but surely that part's false, even if only partially false O.o
wayland breaks roblox shift lock
When I see the changes for Plasma 6 I can't wait for Gnome 50 and hope they have some exciting stuff for us in the making
Gnome gets a $1 mil grant, but will probs spend at least 25% of it paying for people to argue on github on how to and if they should implement or change anything rather than doing something 😛
viewing from india! btw, i use arch
I hope RHEL dropping X11 being delayed just so it happens with RHEL 11, lol (or they do a Windows and skip a number like from 8 to 10, lol).
Central European time, lol.
I do watch it in the morning/noon like it would have been for the Americans if they watched the video as soon as it came out, lol.
