Redhat Enterprise Linux 9 Benchmarks

Sorry I could not get this done in time for the main video, so here is the results of my tests using RHEL 9 and comparing against some other recent benchmarks. ** RePublished Video ** the fan noise in the benchmark section was annoying so I re-recorded it.

  • Could you speed up these benchmarks by compiling a kernel for your pc with the —march flag? Might be hard but could boost performance quite a bit.

  • i tried it on a Thinkpad laptop and the bottom line is if you’re looking at Clear Linux as a daily driver, be ready to spend time Googling and compiling. Yes, it's the leanest penguin out there but at the same time, it's missing a lot of daily use stuff that is fattening other penguins. Maybe for servers yes but for laptop daily driver…uhm.. no! not for me right now. Their package manager swupd has a long way to go

  • I'm surprised at Debian. It's doing quite good. They have all Gnome DE I presume? I use Debian XFCE.

  • Thanks for the benchmarks, I had never tried Clearlinux before but I'm downloading now and giving it a try

  • Had to re-publish this video, the fan noise in the benchmark section was annoying.
