Revisiting the most hated Windows version

Windows 8 released in 2012 was an OS that future generations will learn from on how to not design operating systems. Making a touchscreen based UI for non-touchscreen PCs is not a good strategy.

  • Windows xp good
    Windows vista bad
    Windows 7 good
Windows 8 & 8.1 bad the for tablet not for pc
    Windows 10 good l have v1607
Windows 11 bad ram lag not old pc

  • Most people downloaded the 3rd party app, "Classic Shell." At the time, it was the most downloaded app LOL 🙂

  • All you had to do to get the start screen was literally press just one simple key on your keyboard which had the same functionality since 95, simple as that, as for the start screen I actually thought it was much more intuitive than most would believe because it gave you more information up front and visually appealing, as for the Microsoft account, where were you mopers when Apple started forcing you to use an Apple ID with their devices exactly?

  • Not to mention, I recall when Windows 8 was new, my laptop would constantly suffer from drivers (mostly audio) just randomly breaking, forcing me to sometimes unplug and plug the headset in, or even having to restart the drivers for it to work again. Once I upgraded to Windows 10, the problem is vanished. So on top of the UI being clunky and annoying for mouse and keyboard, I didn't like how buggy some drivers felt with it

  • Windows 8 was truly awful. I couldn't wait to download Windows 10.

  • Windows 8 (and 8.1) – the fastest booting Windows ever.

  • For me the best, the fastest windows, Windows 8.1 I wish they continue this ver.

  • I haven't tried windows 8 but looking at the video this fells like a disaster but I have tried windows 8.1 that was pretty good at least better in performance and looks better and modern then windows 7

  • I remember these days standing in Best Buy looking to buy a laptop today, seeing all of the new Windows 8 junk, I just laughed and walked away with a new Windows 7 pro laptop.
I just refused to use windows 8 such a let down by Microsoft.

  • 8.0 was a disaster…but I honestly love and miss Windows 8.1. Specifically the Embedded version and Server 2012 R2

  • Meanwhile I'm still using 8.1 single language from 2015 till now. At least it doesn't have scary ads like windows 10 or 11

  • Windows 8 is bad because no start button, but 8.1 fixed it. But both are much better than Windows 11.

  • The design of apps aren't even good for mobile devices, looks like they drew it in ms paint.

  • I remember Vista being hated wayyyyy more

  • Windows 8 sucks
Windows 8.1 is great. Even much better without forced updates in windows 10 and 11

  • Windows 8 was pretty decent. Windows 11 is horrible. Ithas a lot of spyware and bloatware

  • To be honest window 8 was revolutionary and yeah the task manager is the biggest improvement

  • Can u make a video regarding what happened to Microsoft windows that made so much of Airlines stop working, u can search for it for more details, it is a new thing happened these days.
    Hope u read my comment.
    Thanks!

  • But to me, in my opinion, I do think windows, eight and 8.1, which was originally catered two computers with touchscreens are actually better for computers with touchscreens because they have those big icons, whereas after this version of windows, that they no longer think about to make the main OS for tablets like even the OS of Windows 11 no longer have the icons, the buttons, more bigger so that it’s easier to press as they have make those OS more for Computers that are not touchscreen like the gestures are not so good like maybe not so user-friendly for touchscreens.

  • Nah, I liked 8 and 8.1. They were alright. I'd choose em over 10 and 11 any given day.

  • i still use windows 8.1 to this day, fast and optimized os in my opinion

haven't used windows 8 though, but i can see the dislike because of the missing start menu "button" and all other stuff

  • 8.x did not deserve the hate

This, to me, was what Windows 10 could've been

  • If only we could still use WinXP or Win7
I miss XP for nostalgia but Win7 was sooooooo stable, easily on ram/cpu/disk usage

  • Im using a surface 3 and Ive been daily driving 8 for a month now. I personally think it's great

  • I used windows 8 on my hp 15 notebook laptop , it was great expirience no touchscreen just keyboard and mouse . In my opinion best version of windows , windows 10 is ok & windows 11 is why i switched to linux . I use Arch btw .

  • Windows 8 and 8.1 were amazing on the touch screen enabled device. All the gestures made sense very intuitive. Didn't like it when Microsoft cave to the pressure and downgrade the touch experience in the future releases of windows.

  • Most optimized windows ever IMO, also it ran better than windows 7 and uses way less memory and processor usage

  • Windows 8/8.1 is the worst, next comes windows 7…

  • Windows 7 and 8 are my favourite aesthetics (along with early versions of windows 10)

  • Windows 8.1 was the best OS ever made except for the fact that many people didn’t know how to operate

  • I like how the hinge is broken ,sort of. Like any other hp laptop from the time.

  • Yeah, even after 2 years of using that OS I still couldn't get used to the Start menu being different.
