Revolutionizing Automotive Software: DevSecOps, Functional Safety, and Open Source Synergy – Hasan Yasar, Software Engineering Institute | CMU

In the realm of automotive software, ensuring both functional safety and the integration of open-source components is a formidable challenge. Two crucial questions loom large: “Are we building a safe cars?” and “Are we building the cars securely?” These queries, seemingly distinct, intertwine. To answer them, we advocate a paradigm shift—integrating verification and validation (V&V) seamlessly into the automotive software lifecycle through DevSecOps. Continuous Verification and Validation, a pillar of DevSecOps, empowers secure and reliable software development. We explore this approach within the context of automotive functional safety and the incorporation of open-source technologies, illustrating how it harmonizes these demands and accelerates innovation.
