Learn easily Archive, Compress and Decompress files & directories in RHEL 7 / CentOs 7. In this demonstration, I will archive some files and directories, read the content of the compressed file and decompress them using bz2 and gzip.
These days, I am creating a video series of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administration. This course will teach you about linux, especially working with red hat linux 7 or CentOs 7. In this lecture you will learn about archiving files and directories, compressing them and decompress them using tar.
Archiving and compressing files are useful when creating backups and transferring data across a network. In our practical life, simply we can compress different files and directories into one file and email the file like we zip or compress files to a single file in Windows based operating system.
In Linux, with tar, users can gather large sets of files into single file—archive. The archive can then be compressed using bz2, gzip or xz compression.
