Self hosted, open source password manager built for teams!

In this Tutorial we set up a free and open-source password manager for your home labs, or professional it teams, such as DevOps, sysadmins, and so on. We will deploy Passbolt on a docker server and configure a mail server and trusted SSL certificates by using Traefik and Letsencrypt. #Passbolt #PasswordManager #HomeLab

  • I'm surprised you don't have millions of subscribers. A very clever and security oriented guy.

  • Well if you fuck up the config file. You should always run yamllint before using it.

  • No one uses safari these days. And if you do its good that no plugin exists to punish you for using a lame os and lame browser

  • Thanks for very detailed video about Passbolt. I had tested this myself on a raspberry pi with the explanation that was on their own site. And if I have to compare your explanation with the one you gave with that site, then the makers of Passbolt skipped several steps. I would almost start to think that whoever wrote the manual for Raspberry Pi was in a morning mood on a Monday morning and was told again that there was no more coffee. lol Like certain others here I also have Bitwarden / Vaultwarden and they worked right away without any problems

  • Great video as always but personally After going through many errors while setting this up, I was baffled by the absence of grouping and referencing features in the free version…
Without those features I just can't imagine having my hundred passwords layed out flat when I go in the UI.
Great tool though but I'm gonna be sticking with KeePassXC with cloud sync for the password file

  • Hey Christian. Awesome video as always. Have you ever ran into the issue where when you visit the URL, nothing shows on the screen but it does seem to redirect? I am running docker in an Ubuntu 22.04 container within LXD to see if this same process will work.

  • Make videos of whatever came in your mind we're here to view them all

  • Great video. Thanks for posting it. I am new to the Docker world and checking if you have a sample passbolt docker-compose file that can run locally on a docker without much configuration.

  • +1 for Office365 / Azure instructions. I'd like to host this in Azure web apps for containers Great Video!

  • Christian, thanks for another awesome video. I will definitely take a look at Passbolt. Been looking for password manager to replace my instance of Bitwarden. I like Bitwarden, but I am a little concerned that they rely on Microsoft for there backend (MSSQL, .Net, etc.). First glance at Passbolt it looks to totally open sourced 🙂

  • A 365 environment with Azure would be most welcome on how to get this set-up. You've already given a lot of unintentional tips n tricks that help hugely for most environments, so thank you

  • I am happy with Bitwarden, but I will try Passbolt later

  • Biggest issue with passbolt is the inability to easily restore deleted items. There is now bin where you can go to restore the "accidentally" deleted items.
