I prefer SSHing into my remote just a convenience thing
Or you can make it easier and just ssh into your remote with an already installed vscode like you have and it will pull and setting everything automatically for you.

What is the benefit of running vscode this way over running the VsCode on my server

since youre the official vs code, can you fix it disabling all my plugins and saying it doesnt support virtual environments when im not on a virtual machine and don't know what that means otherwise??
