In this video we’ll get OpenMediaVault (OMV) 6 set up on a ZimaBoard 832. You can use any x86 platform you’d like.
Please note that this series will focus on x86 and NOT ARM processors.

I dont get the icons you have! only says Docker repo with a check box, etc
Can u do a video demonstrating 9v filesystem passthrough. I have a 4tb HDD on a host and omv6 as guest via KVM/qemu with virt-manager. I'll like to passthrough a folder and mount it in omv6.
Hey just to let everyone know OMV-extras plugin released an update today making changes to how the DOCKER install process works and removing PORTAINER and YACHT installer options. IK this is one of the few recent videos with OMV6 so I know many people will get confused trying to follow along please see the OMV forums can't paste a link.
I used openmediavault on the older version but it was different, now I can't really handle docker and portainer. Before it was easier, I don't know why.
mostly im looking for better power and fan management
my drives are all btrfs i think i tried to use omv and it wanted to join them
I hate Docker and would never recommend it. Open media vault might be nice if it worked without raid.

Great stuff. However, if you install portainer first it also will install docker at the same time, one action installs two apps.
what happend to omv? it is unstable likre nothing else, portainer will not install. unraid here i come.
I couldn't get Portainer to start it just said created I had to run apt install apparmor apparmor-utils auditd for portainer to install correctly, hope this helps someone.
I am trying to get my system setup but my Portainer says "created" instead of a time. When I click on open web, it won't load the page, but just says "site can't be reached". Any idea what might be wrong?

Hi, I have tried to mount my file system as you mentioned and got an error in red -> not available it is a NUC pc with one TB but nothing available. It is also impossible to unmount the disk the rubber is grayed. Thanks in advance for your help. Guy
I ended up getting a Thecus N5550 device. I do have the drives setup on raidz1 under ZFS. I noticed that you didn't include omv-extras and zfs, but not a big issue. I am interested on how to be setup my shared folders. Since I am using zfs, should I create a filesystem via zfs (for instance, /srv/data/docker) and then under docker, create the Configs and Data that use in your example, or do I create under shared folders Configs and Data and let the permissions be handles there.
This has been on of my on-going problems when dealing with shared folders and permission, zfs and it permissions and of course making all of that play nicely when I dealing with SAMBA issues.
Hi, complete novice here, looking to set up my first home storage device (not sure what the technical name for that is). Can I follow these instructions to install OMV 6 on an Odroid HC4? I bought the HC4 a year or two ago, but never got around to actually using it.
So I learned so much from this video. Even from your small hiccups along the way. I’d used portainer before, but found it to be a bit unnecessary for me at that particular time and chose to devote my time/energy learning other tools. But since I’m now rebuilding my home server and exploring new options….. this video was pure gold.

it would nice if most of the system settings could be changed on the command line

I want to run open media vault and Tailscale, except that I found out open media vault takes over the operating system and nothing else can run it. My source for that comes from this youtube video at 50 seconds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F24cB84grcc
OMV and Tailscale would work great for me on the same pi if I can, is there a way to do this, or will it have to be two separate pi's. I just want to set up a network attached drive and be able to access it remotely and securely. Help, Dave.
What can I install with Docker? Aside from Plex or NextCloud.
I have 1 SSD for OS, 1 HDD for CCTV, 2 HDD's for SATA1. Can I use main SSD for Docker? There aren't any free space in case for one more SSD/HDD.
