• After days looking for a way to stream videos from my pc to phone, this was the only one that seem to work effortlessly and VLC detected kodi right away and gave me a warning that kodi server found was so very happy how fast it streams no lagging. I must say that scanning took a long time since I had 1000s of movies i set it up to auto update changes.

• @2:35 thx for the VLC tip though it seems to me like the Kodi server is a glorified file server. is there a way to connnet a client to my Kodi server much like how Emby, Jellyfin, and PLEX work? meaning, i choose the Kodi server & it presents me with a UI such that my watch history, meta data, etc is all stored server side.

  is this even possible w a Kodi server?

  ps. Ive tried Kodi remote but my goal is not to control the screen of the Kodi server.

• Hey its not working for me. Kodi doesnt show up on my android VLC, both are connected to the same home wifi.

• smb1 is asking for a password for each directory level.

• Thank you for the VLC Media player suggestion, tried so hard to setup with the Kodi app and it wouldn't work. This was so much easier than any other tutorial, thank you.

• I have 12 android TVs that kodi installed and the video file that i want to play stored on each TV it can run from windows 10 using WEB Remote but I have to assign the ip for the tv that i want to play the file on it , is there a way to give command from windows to run all TVs togather in same time ?

• hi, where are the files then? On your private PC an only accesable when its on, or on the Kodi servers?
