Signal App – Why It’s Trending over Telegram and WhatsApp
Created by Moxie Marlinspike and Brian Acton, Signal’s popularity surged into the mainstream due to WhatsApp’s looming privacy blunder over how it shares data with parent company Facebook.
Tweets from Elon Must, Jack Dorsey and Edward Snowden, who praises Signal’s security credentials, catapulted the messaging app to the number 1, beating Telegram, in most App Stores worldwide.
Available on iOS, Android and Desktop (on Mac, Windows and Linux), and Co-founded by WhatsApp’s original creator and a cryptographer, the project is an open-source, non-profit organisation laser-focused on security and transparency. The foundation is structured because Signal is different from the others and worth your attention.
