So that's why it was covered up, it wasn't a weather balloon, it wasn't a crashed disc, it was the Ferengi!
5:28 "This guy looks pretty random so he might die" Munez? no way! This guy seems awesome I bet he's going to live forever!
You can’t help but feel sorry for the Defiant. She keeps getting the crap kicked out of her nearly every episode she’s in. Chief O’Brien must have so much work to do.😂
I love little green men.
Little Green men actually takes place in Dayton OH at Write Patterson Air Force Base. After the Roswell incident whatever was recovered was taken to and stored at Wright Patterson in Hangar 18. You can tell on the Hangar that Quarks ship Flys out of says 18 on the side
This episode is the first appearance of Enrique Muniz. Though at the time the character didn’t have a name. This would be fleshed out later. Muniz and the other engineers on the Defiant are a pretty tight group. And yes this is another fine example of how to do NCO’s right. See Muñiz is the only officer among the three Engineers we see in this episode. Though they wear the uniform, they are not Starfleet Academy graduates. They went to a trade school like Luna or Mars.
Two outstanding episodes!! Season 4 really is almost nothing but bangers!!!
Also, I'm sure you've gotten a million comments already that have pointed this out, but the Karemma merchant was played by James Cromwell, AKA Zefram Cochrane from Star Trek First Contact!
Mooooogie!
🤣"And if we pick the wrong one, we die!" 🤣
Echolocation?
Thermal layers?
Hull collapse from pressure?
Another "space is an ocean" battle
There have been hundreds of atom bomb "tests." Only two dropped on people….
I think Starship Down was the episode where Kira became my favorite character.
It's a little thing, but it always bugs me that Captain whosiewatsis is wearing his bars SIDEWAYS. Really, did NO ONE notice?
I love starship down and little green me can’t wait until in the place moonlight about the morality of war
The best part of Little Green Men being a time travel episode is bringing up the Bell Riots just before it happens.
you have 10 minutes, plenty of time to tell a story
The guy under the Karemma-makeup played Zefram Cochrane in Star Trek First Contact 😉
Looking forward to seeing next week's episodes. Two of my all time favorites.
What a wonderful singing voice singing the DS9 intro 😂😂
You're into for some great episodes in the future!! Love DS9!
Thumbs-up for this video…..as if I had to tell ya!😃
When Kira puts on the baseball cap her smile was adorable
I like the green light.
I was born in Roswell NM and currently reside 40 miles south of it. All of us locals who were watching this show at the time were very pleased with the episode.
The guy in charge at the base, Charles Napier, played Adam on TOS in "The Way to Eden," was also one of the cops killed by Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs, and had a funny fight with Clint Eastwood in Heartbreak Ridge.
Little Green Men is often on lists of the top DS9 episodes ever. To me, it's only okay, though. I mean, it's a nice sci-fi story, but I feel like 90% of it didn't have to be DS9 and didn't even have to be Star Trek at all. It was about aliens from the future stuck in the 40s, and that could have been any IP.
I do like Starship Down a lot, though.
James Cromwell, who played the Hanok, previously played Minister Nayrok in TNGs "The Hunted", Jaglom Shrek in "Birthright parts 1&2" (the Yridian information dealer) and later played Zefram Cochrane in Star Trek First Contact.
Deep Space Nine does and AMAZING job of building the Ferengi race's background, customs, etc. They did a much better job of telling their story than TNG could ever accomplish.
The General calling Truman a "piano playing Democrat" is the only time in all of Star Trek a democraticly elected official is referred to by their political association or party. The general probably is a Republican but not nessasarraly there were and still are other factions within both US political parties and they don't like each other.
Love me some time travel episodes!!
Can’t recall if you have watched it yet…but definitely watch the trouble with tribbles from the original 60’s show. There is a tie in to a ds9 episode at some point.
The Ferengi legends of root beer continue to grow woooo!
Is "Little Green Men" funnier for the inherent humor, or for the fact that Odo can mimic an Austrian Shepherd perfectly, yet cant make eyebrows right? 😛
That general was the space hippie Adam in the classic Star Trek episode "The Way to Eden"
Just shows how much of a dick Worf is. Then again, he did not have that great of a role model with Picard :p
By the way, that's real archive footage of a real bomb test they're flying into at the end there!
CONTINUITY & PRODUCTION PROBLEMS
STARSHIP DOWN (IMDb Rating: 7.8)
"The Nitpicker's Guide For DS-9 Trekkers" got these two episodes reversed. They list "Little Green Men" as episode 6.
16:03 When Quark uses the tricorder to scan the torpedo, he's got it aimed at himself.
17:02 When Quark pulls out the "diode", the torpedo goes dark. When damage control arrives, it's lit up again.
LITTLE GREEN MEN (IMDb Rating: 8.6)
27:56 When Dax buys the holosuite program from Nog, she short-changes him. Instead of the agreed-upon 10 slip of latinium, she only gives him 3 or 4.
33:16 When Rom discovers he can't take the ship out of warp, there is something odd about Quark's inner right ear.
40:12 Odo's left hand suddenly disappears from Quark's shoulder.
41:46 The markings on the needle disappear. If she rotated it while it was in Quark's arm, it's no wonder he screamed. (not in this edit)
There are several errors in the military uniforms and insignia.
Fun Little Green Men trivia : The Pleasure Goddess of "Rixx" was the
writer's inside joke referring to executive producer Rick Berman lol
I love both of these. Starship Down is one of my favourites of the season.
"A few years from now, mankind could have rocket ships of our own. We could travel the galaxy, exploring new worlds and new civilizations."
I think every show in the 90s did a Rosewell related thing
Believe me, it's not the last time Star Trek messes up our past timeline…
Oh and about ships caught in a disaster, you might want to watch TNG Season 5 episode Disaster… there are a few fun scenes with Picard in it…
Star Trek writers love their submarine episodes.
O'Brien is a much better chief engineer than Geordi. Geordi tries to do everything himself, doesn't really help his staff advance their skills or their careers. He beams over to Pakled ships by himself because his ego can't handle letting a team of underlings go in his stead and then supervise their work like a manager should. O'Brien is here delegating tasks to his staff, encouraging them, reassuring them, managing his people well. For O'Brien, it's a team effort, and it doesn't matter who gets credit, he just wants to get the job done and done right.
"Starship down" is a better version of TNG's "Disaster"
This is essentially a submarine battle. So epic and thrilling.
A lot of people are very hard on ds9, but I think it was an amazing show. Not only for the issues it took head on. It managed to bring spirituallity into the story very intelligently
