  • Still saving the day in 2019! Oh man I was going down a rabbit hole trying to fix my MBR after a Clonezilla disk to disk copy. Somehow my BIOS changed up the settings from AHCI to IDE for everything. But with the help of this video I took a second look at those SATA port config settings and properly set them to AHCI and all booted nicely.

ERMAGERD!!!11! I hope he learned that AHCI is not pronounced "Achie" and BIOS should never be pronounced "BIAhS". HEATHENS! All the same, thanks!

  • Thanks for sharing – knew it was something related to the SATA drive on an old HP/Compaq system – which the BIOS defaults to AHCI – but the drive needed to be set to IDE emulation – Windows XP setup continued with no issues.

  • Thank you. Was baffled for a long time.
Installing xP on a separate drive for (offline) work with legacy hardware.
