• Imagine if Ipad had something like Samsungs DEX mode! plug iPad pro with M CPU into a monitor and it will reboot into MacOS. It's funny that when Steve jobs presented the first iPhone he said that "software on phones is like baby software" and then he boasted that iPhone 1 runs OSX. What he did not mention is that the OSX iPhone ran was a "baby" version of OSX. IOS today 13 years later is still a baby version of MacOS and when the iPad came in 2010 it was just a supersized iPod touch!. Nothing has changed from a software perspective since then Isn't even the FCPRO and Logic pro "baby" versions of the Mac version? ipad OS is just IOS on steroids and has ALL the same limitations of that stupid mobile system. While the power of the device is more than capable to run the full desktop version.

• Fair points. However YouTubers almost inevitably assume video editing is what everyone cares about. Most of us are not tubers, we want things like our business software to run on the iPad so we can travel with it, or not need a MacBook and an iPad both to create art. I agree we don’t need MacOS interface, just software compatibility. Windows had tablet mode and desktop mode that could switch when docked. Would that work?

• So you know how mac os has it where you can run ios apps? Why not have that include M series ipad mode. Let it have full gesture support in the ipad mode. Use mac OS when you need it, and the ipad mode when you need that? I dont think it would kill either industry.

• i think they should make a better os for ipad that corresponds with macOS better. Like MacOS for touchscreen. I know thats what they were going for with the IpadOS, but I feel like It could be better executed. like literally make it macOS with desktop, but have touch-screen-friendly icons and functions.

• Most of the "productivity on ipad" still video editing, Microsoft office. But macos goes far beyond this. Why say no to free functionalities – you already have M1/M2 chips there, which cost more than 1000 pounds. Or in another way – why cannot give mac a touch screen?

• It was all bullshit marketing. No pro uses iPad for anything period. It’s for rich hobbyists who want to feel like they are using professional tools. This goes for every "pro” product Apple launches – both physical and digital.

• I don’t want to run MacOS on an iPad so I can edit videos. I want to run VS Code, IntelliJ, Docker, Node, Python and all the other dev tools that have embraced ARM. I don't need it to do that on the go, I'm happy if it required an external monitor and power to do these things. Apple simply doesn’t want to change their nice 30% cut closed ecosystem on the iPad to the wild west 0% cut open ecosystem on Mac with brew and dmg files.

• I had a 10th gen iPad https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.
