  • Excellent beginner's tutorial! One thing I learned about running it in a VM over the last few weeks is to give it LOTS of drive space for CPU transcoding. 20GB of free space on 32GB VM drive wasn't enough for multiple simultaneous viewing streams of full-fat MKV rips from my movie collection. Fortunately, I could still log into the VM and clean out the transcode directory to get Jellyfin running again. Lots of tinkering ahead!

  • I had no idea about Rocky Linux, thank you for this. Back in the day, I was a huge CentOS fan.

  • Your video was awesome wish I found this 7 months ago instead all the WHITE and YELLOW faces that come up way before you can get to someone that look likes you. I already gave up on this but you should KEEP GOING your video was way more to the point and no bs. Thank you

  • More and more I am thinking Linux might not be for me. I feel constantly trolled by the many flavors and have yet to find one that does not just do what it wants and never what I want. Every time the computer restarts it is just another roll of the dice as to how it will behave.

  • well yeah I did the same as you did before but I have trouble the services will not start up. 😞
Vendor and service is enabled but it will not turn to active 😞

  • This tutorial is a winner! Installed it on my test vm and it worked like a charm. Installing on my main media server today. Thank you.

  • When I try I go to my ip I cannot get to the setup page it never loads

  • I'm having a hard time figuring out how to create the directory for my content and get access to move files there. Could I go "sg jellyfin", then "mkdir -m 3770 /media/videos", and then that folder should have access? I'm assuming I'd also want to add my user to the jellyfin group to move files into that directory?

  • I saw your FreeCodeCamp Linux crash course a while back. Eventually I realized "man" means "manual", but man, it sounded like you talked about the man. You're the man, man. Realizing as I continued trying to get into Linux how useful it had been. Thanks again

  • i did tryied to instqll streama on my own server but it was on windows so i moved up on ubuntu and felt a bit lost but know that i found ur tutorial i find it very clear !

  • How do I create a seperate folder for movie, series in a specific location. I tried to create a folder in my home directory /home/ubuntu/jellyfin/movies but it's getting only /home/ubuntu/. How can I do it? Help please.

  • I set up my Jellyfin server using your instruction. I was not directly on the server, so I used SSH on the server. I also need to forward the port because I have all the ports coming in my network closed except for my going out. I will forward the port as soon as I am ready. Thank you for your help. 👍

  • I'm always put off by software that installs with a script which is piped from curl directly into a root shell.

  • What’s up bro I’m one of the mods in sly chat. I’ve been meaning to ask you if someone who has a 18 year old violent felony conviction could they successfully find work in I.T. If so which areas would they have a better chance of finding work.
