  • Welcome back!!! Glad to see you're recovering well.
I do have a Vision Pro (I splurged on one as a graduation gift for myself because I've always wanted a piece of first-gen technology) and I love it, actually! I don't use it every day but I do love using it for work. I'm easily distracted in my newsroom so it helps to be able to just turn a dial and be in an isolated space where I can focus on what I need to do. It's also great for music, for YouTube of course, and just generally not feeling like I'm trapped in a dorm room.

  • One of the first things I said about this headset when it was announced at WWDC. “I want a spatial computing platform. Not an iPad I can wear” Vision Pro has incredible hardware but the software in no way gives me the opportunity to use it effectively

  • I'm waiting for generation 3 when they'll finally give it controllers and generation 9 when they allow it to attach to a computer by cable. Maybe by that point it'll have games?

  • There was a 3d printed clip for mounting Vision pro on a hat. Supposedly works great

  • You can say about the Meta Quest what you want but it is still only a fraction of the price.

  • Today we see jonathan at the beach. You can say he's Alive Standing 2: On the Beach

  • Glad that you’re back and healthy! Did at one stage question the lack of new videos but all makes sense now. Cheers to more content from my favourite Apple-centric channel

  • Which kind of laser eye surgery did you get and are you happy with thr results?

  • Wasn't sure I'd ever bother with Mac Address when it first started. While I had bought Apple products in the past (several iPods and a mac mini that ran my Plex library for years) I wasn't overly interested in their products. But the channel has really grown on me. I love the way Jonathan presents the videos. They unique flavour they have compared to the other LMG channels. And the fact that it addresses both sides of the coin when reviewing anything. It's not all praise or all critique. It's balanced and informative. Here is a cool thing, here is what you can do with it and here is what you can't. And here is why that's good and bad. Great work. Glad I subbed to this channel as well these days.

  • I love how you had the same realisation I had when I first used one
    “It doesn’t do anything”
Imo The coolest thing is spatial video
But while the pass through is 10x better than what meta has it’s still 10x worse than reality

  • Welcome back! Try not to lay down on the roads though! It's not healthy for your back.

  • 9:29 oh no, here we go again (I'm all for it btw) bring MacOS to the Vision Pro!

  • Few notes from using the Vision Pro for a month:
    – Totally agree on the "nothing to do in here" part, my main use case is Mac virtual display and that can also be solved with larger external displays unless I'm traveling
    – I've actually gotten pretty fast with the virtual keyboard.
    – With the dual loop head band and some training, I'm comfortable wearing the thing for hours at a time.
    – Agreed on the issue with not enough space, though it's somewhat improved by setting the scaling to small.
    – Spatial FaceTime is pretty cool, it really feels like I'm in the same space as the other person.
    – I wish it had more real world applications, like AR pedestrian navigation, visual lookup, translation, etc.

  • Missed you my guy . Tried finding any of your socials to see if you had any life updates 😭
    Glad to see your oka

  • The vision pro is honestly a proof of concept product. It shows where apple plans to go, even if the tech cant get them there today.

The problem is obviously price, but also just viability. I dont think apple will ever kill off this product, but i dont think it will ever get a v2 or last until a consumer “friendly” version comes out. As seen by everyone, no one cares about it anymore. So app development and consumer interest is gonna flat line to the point where Apple themselves cant justify more money into this product.

Someday a company will develop a cooler better ar system and we’ll probably thank apple for leading the way. But i cant see the vision pro being the item everyone wants or in every household.

  • Glad you seem to be recovering well!

I recently upgraded from a quest 2 to a quest 3, which I also use with android apps, and it's serving me quite well. Although the apple hardware might be superior, I think that without any good apps to run on it (and from the video it seems surprisingly bad cross compatibility with ipad apps), this is a way too expensive tech demo product.

  • We’re Happy to see you doing well please take more time to recover if you need it

  • ive always felt like this channel is very different and higher quality than the other LTT channels.

then i realized that i view apple the same way compared to other tech companies.

  • Welcome back! You have the most interesting Apple centric videos. Great work!

  • Welcome back and glad to hear you are in good health following the accident! Super missed this channel and your type of writing and presentation.

  • I’ve been waiting forever for the iPad to just get macOS, doubt they’ll give the Vision Pro macOS anytime soon, if ever

  • I'm curious about it, but it will be the last thing I buy when I already have everything I've ever wanted. And for now a Sharp Zaurus SL-C1000 or a Toshiba Libretto is way higher on that list.

  • *takes headset off and winces* – this guy

  • i don't even think not having controllers is good in any way. reliable controls and tactile feedback are important. if you want hand controls, make a goddamn glove with good haptic feedback. using a "controllerless device" will just take you in the kinect direction — can't do shit that requires any amount of precision

  • For me it’s like an iPad Air right now. Not for work but for media like Netflix and disney

  • That’s why I sent mine back. I don’t miss the mark or the pain. I do sometimes miss the device tho, but when I remember how it was…

  • damn, how dare they make eye tracking incompatible for children's eyes.

  • I can only see 3D modelling and related creative tasks as the point of VR, and weirdly those haven't really appeared.

  • People were clowning on Zuck for saying the Quest 3 isn't just a better value, but a better product in general, but that lizard was 100% correct. It's just a shiny tech demo for those stereotypical starbucks screenwriters who buy macbooks.

  • I don't think making the OS based on mac OS would be the solution, but I would like a way for it to run mac OS natively essentially as a window similar to how screen sharing works, but just having the convenience of not having to lug around both the headset and laptop where ever I go. If they were to base it off mac OS, they would have to update the UI for OSX to have big buttons to basically support touch, not sure they are willing to do that.

I also don't get the complaint LMG has with a lack of hardwire connections to everything nowadays. Wifi speeds have increased so much that I don't find the need to ever use a hardwire connection, even when transmitting hundreds of gigs. The convenience of not having sit in a specific location with a wire hanging off the device is far greater than the slightly slower transfer speeds. Maybe y'all are just used to constantly transferring large video files back and forth, but that is not really a good use case for the vision pro.

  • Vision Pro is still just a novelty… it’ll be a while before we get something truly revolutionary

  • The warping on the Quest 3 doesn’t look that bad as of today. The updates that Meta has been pushing are making the product visibly better.

  • Great your back and well. Also make a video on riding a motorbike with apple ecosystem.
