The Black City Of Gary (Directed By Heru Ne$et)
This documentary explores the city of Gary located in the state of Indiana. The rich black roots are all around Gary, from The Jackson 5 to William Marshall, to Avery Brooks and etc. Gary is also the place where I began my teaching career at Roosevelt high school, in addition to being a radio disc jockey at WLTH. I also had time to visit the current WLTH radio station and interact with the owner and share stories and gems for the people. This documentary is meant to explore and highlight the black roots of Gary and to also introduce the world to a city that is hardly spoken about. Hotep.
