  • For your convenience there are links for everything you saw in this video from the Midea AC Unit to the tools used in the description of this video! I am pleasantly surprised how quiet and efficient this unit is.

  • Should have included to put a wood stick 2X2 from the top of the window down to the top of the slider. Regardless of those plastic wing outs.

  • great but my window doesn't open up and down it opens sideways…and there are way too many ads to watch this vid…

  • Ridiculous title . Vintage AC's get colder than this thing could dream of

  • I like the way the cold air is directed upward instead of outward; a lot of people will be more comfortable sleeping near one with this layout. This seems like a decent alternative to either a standard window unit or a split system. But you don't really get full use of the window without either the view or the screen. A screen could be made to fit the upper portion of the window and the top sash could be pulled down, but the foam between the sashes would have to be replaced each time it's closed. There are also upside-down-U-shaped window AC units that give you a nearly full view and might be even quieter. It's just a matter of how important this stuff is and how much you want to spend.

  • To lock the window in a position you can insert a metal rod or something similar between the window's top and the frame's top.
And it is quiet, because the compressor portion is outside the window. There's no crazy magic in there 😀

  • I have a midea, aciq mini split style outdoor unit. Very quiet too. This brands gets what we want. QUIET

  • But, this doesn't heat right? Like a mini-split?

  • We installed 4 Midea split units 11 months ago and I love them. I have the exact same remote control as the one you showed. At night I set the fan speed to 5% in the bedroom and it is so quiet.

  • I must have got a bad one it died after two days

  • mine has been sitting next to the window for a few months now cause i'm lazzy… hahahaha

  • I have two of these at my summer home. They are quieter than the central A/C at my other place. Fantastic!

  • We brought the U shape unit back and got a regular midea w/heat, YMMV

  • Yes, it’s a very quiet unit initially, but unfortunately, I’ve had four of these units already / all of them after a summer and a half of us begin to sound noisy. They have a buzz/ some are bearable others were so bad. I had to remove and toss the unit. But yes, initially it’s an alter quiet unit but again. . But yes, initially it’s an alter quiet unit but again every unit eventually got noisier. I did call the manufacturer, but they told me it was beyond warranty.

  • Such over engineering common just put a split ac and be done with it

  • Excellent, do you have a video about how to set up an affordable solar system to run this unit?

  • Have had this unit for over 6 months now. Love it, It doesn't have a drain line outside. Had to drill a hole or you would hear water hitting the condenser fan.

  • This unit worked great for me last year when I bought it from Costco. Easy to install and super quiet and super cold

  • I wish Media would make extensions for the bracket as I have a wider window than usual. Last year I was looking around for work around but still haven’t found a good solution.

  • In Hawaii, the vast majority of homes have jalousie windows and have no sill. It'd be great if that AC unit was inverted with the mass on the bottom/hanging on the wall. You'd lose maybe the last bottom slab of glass, but the rest of the window would still be able to open and let light in. Thanks for the video.

  • you say you prefer this over a mini split, but doesn't a mini split have both Heat and AC? so this would just be an option for a different style AC unit? Asking because we're putting in a 4 season porch and running existing ducting for heat/AC would be expensive, and a mini split was recommended. So… this unit your showing would not be an option to replace a mini split? correct?

  • Are there any window units made for windows that slide open horizontally instead of vertically. My son is in Colorado and his windows open like a sliding glass door.

  • Installed one of these a couple of years ago. Install is a bit more than a normal window unit but oh man is it quiet and cool. Worth the extra effort to get it set up right!

  • These units saved my arse last year. AC went out and all quotes were 16-20k for replacement. Bought 4 of these units for $275 each and installed 2 mini splits systems in the fall once temps came down. Total cost of everything was $5k and now I have seer 22 AC
Sold 3 of the 4 units for $600 this spring

  • I bought 2 of these units when they came out and was absolutely blown away with my energy savings. Usually I was paying 350+ electric bill monthly to run 2 units. When I got the energy bill after installing the Mideas I was like this was wrong. Nope, $ 120 was the average bill. Love Mideas. Just bought their dehumidifier and am impressed with it's results as well. Easy to empty, filter is easy to get to and clean. Good stuff

  • Yes so quiet! BUT you don't have exact control over the air flow. Fair price point for each model compared to the usual design.

  • Unfortunately they are not available outside the US 🙁

  • I’ve had this for a year and pretty much like it. The only issue I see is it collects rain water through the top and there’s no drainage in the bottom. I can see the bottom is already rusting out.

  • So in order to still be able to lock your window you have to pull out those plastic tabs which also keeps you from opening the window so title is partially incorrect. If you want the security of it being locked then you can't open the window.

  • Could you do a review of the reverse of this? Where the AC hangs UNDER the window so you still have the majority of the window view.

  • Important to know: Does this A/C create negative pressure inside your home by exhausting air to the outside? Or does it perform like a dual-hose portable A/C by bringing in outdoor air and using that to carry away the exchanged heat?

  • Awesome video!! Just purchased the 12,000 Btu unit yesterday. Will be delivered next Monday. Can't wait to try it out!
