THE CYBERTRUCK IS FINALLY HERE – a Truck Owners Thoughts
The Cybertruck has arrived. Different than expected in many ways… but still a BEAST of a machine that I cant wait to get my hands on. As a truck owner myself, who drives an Electric Truck, I have a few thoughts about the Tesla delivory event. And I have a few opinions on how the Cybertruck will be able to handle being an actual truck… Check out the Electric Jetski factory here: https://youtu.be/qKGyJ8Ff9Ds?si=U6vBSeToqQUy8VE0

Are you going to tear-down the cyber truck like the phone…?!
I get Top Gear gets the views, and their content was the most pedestrian opposing Jason’s video and MKBHD tech; it would have been great if you got the same access as him with the engineers instead of them as “the three” channels for reviews
1:06 the reality 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I often drive my trucks in -300F 🙂
I think Tesla will benefit big in the long run from all of the innovations in Cybertruck. Even if it didn't sell well (which it will) it would still almost be worth it just as a testbed for all of their future tech, i.e. steer-by-wire, minimal wiring, bigger cells, HFS, manufacturing process, etc. Heck, it's even a treasure trove of marketing info and PR for Tesla just to sell such a weird vehicle and learn from it. I think (and hope) that prices will come down substantially and that right now they're just keeping their margins high to recoup costs, since it's still competitive at roughly double the promised price and there's going to be way more demand than supply for a long while. Also, Cybertruck will be the best electric pickup truck and one of the best trucks (electric or otherwise) for a lot of people. The reason for is that it fits into a standard garage and still has a respectable bed size. There's lots of other interesting quirks and features to make Cybertruck tempting but a pickup truck is all about the bed at its core. It's not perfect with the side rails but being able to fit in a typical garage with a big-ish bed makes it really compelling, especially compared to other electric trucks, since an EV really HAS to fit in the garage to charge. Another big benefit of the Cybertruck bed is the standard, powered, sloped, secure, locking, rigid, opaque tonneau cover, or the Vault as Tesla calls it. They seem to have designed it well and I think it's a genius move because it allows the bed to be protected and to store lots of large things safely when not being used. It seems similar to other tonneaus at first glance and it's not exactly a technological breakthrough but I have a feeling the Cybertruck tonneau is going to be greater than the sum of its parts and not quite like anything ever before. The most similar analogy is actually a sedan trunk but they have less space and can't do anything else. The beauty of the Vault is that you can transform it into a pickup truck bed in seconds with the push of a button. This makes so much sense with how most people will use a truck, i.e. occasionally benefitting from the bed but otherwise keeping the tonneau closed and benefitting from increased range and protection for the bed and its contents.
It's not a truck. It's a hatch back
If you've managed to freeze your truck to cryogenic temperatures, sure, the stainless steel might help with durability. If you don't live atop a lake of liquid nitrogen however…
when will the 1st cybertruck fire happen or are they using a safer battery in the truck?
Most of this video is Jerry talking into the camera. I assumed that a video of the Cybertruck would show, well, the truck. But the info that Jerry gives about the truck is useful and in plain English.
Only partially correct on your glass comments. My 2021 Tesla Model Y needed an original front glass replacement from a rock impact. The second front glass has sustained similar impacts that doomed the original glass without any breakage.
Nobody except you, I guess would put dirt or gravel in the back of a pick up bed that doesn’t dump
Noting hurts your credibility more than a misleading title. You have not sat in, drove, or even own a cybertruck.
The 500 mile ‘hype’ of the 2019 product announcement is based entirely on 4680 developments that have NOT happened yet. Namely the incorporation of silicon in the battery chemistry which is still missing. Silicon vastly increases the energy density in lithium ion batteries. Unfortunately for Tesla, the 4680 battery development process has taken way more time than they originally anticipated. So they are offering bed mounted range extender packs as stopgap measure until the 4680 development process can be completed. Eventually, when the 4680 cells contain silicon, 500 miles of range should be possible with a fully populated underfloor pack. Also there were plans for a LFP version of the 4680 that would get you 250 miles of range in a fully populated pack that was going to be offered in the RWD Cybertruck, but it doesn’t look like development has even started yet. So we’ll have to see what they come up with in 2025 for the RWD. Maybe a partially populated pack of the current ‘cyber’ cells. Maybe a nonstructural LFP pack. It’s anyone’s guess.
But will it pass the bend test?
Saying any of these electric trucks is ''infinitely better than all gas powered truck '' is probably the most ignorant thing I've heard all day. seem to forget trucks where originally designed for handy men, farmers and blue collar workers amd I don't feel remotely appealed to any of those trucks. They're too tacky, the big screen to start the truck is absolutely stupid if you get your bands dirty. The beds are too small, the truck can't easily be turned into flat beds, which ultimately would greatly help, but most importantly… They're electric and anyone who worked remotely with a truck knows that nothing beats a Jerry can. Now don't get me wrong the truck look great and have plenty of cool features like the ability to charge power tools and all that. But there's no way on earth anyone can tell me it replaces all trucks. I have yet to see an eletric truck on a worksite, and if anyone hase throw away money to buy a one, its a commercial electrician 😂😂😂… please, let's be serious
I would give you a 3 out of 5 star rating for this video. You lost 2 stars for claiming the EV truck is way better than the combustion truck. That is just false. Someday, perhaps, but not today. The main problem is the batteries. Too costly, too short a range, too long to charge, and too quick in needing replaced.
Steel shatters like glass. —- Jerry 2023
Definitely seems like aesthetics took the lead on the Cybertruck.
My brain completely gasped at the horrific thought of bringing a hammer to bear against a calibrated optical table, then my brain caught up and realized it was a welding table 😂. But definitely love the truck, i like to think of it as a Honda Ridgeline with everything cranked up to 11, and i truly loved my Ridgeline.
Lol. You expect anyone to use this toy truck as a “real” truck”.
What a silly review. Don’t drive through liquid nitrogen. Obviously.
you look identical to Mr Clean.
Great video. I'm leaning toward Cybertruck setting the bar by doing it differently in many respects, but there are many more entrants to come, and you appear to eventually tell it like it is. The Cybertruck alloy is one that needs more exploring. Appreciate your experiments. With the work on SpaceX and here, they have gotten pretty far on creating an alloy probably. A lot to see going forward.
They have plenty of accessories for tool racks and not convinced the additional height for a bobcat from the loading from the side would be a deal breaker for most. If it's a small Bobcat maybe, but interesting observations.
Something people don't talk about is one of the reasons it took so long for them to make the truck is because when we saw Elon driving a prototype a couple years ago he thought it was too big and had to completely redo everything in order to make it a smaller vehicle. Kind of interesting. Glad to see a vehicle on the road that actually looks different.
I'm not worried about the durability of the Cybertruck, I am worried about the durability of the cars it will collide with. Cars are design to deform under impact to absorb energy and save lives, that monstrosity doesn't seem to follow that principle. I don't get why no one is talking about this.
It's an extremely reliable coffin on wheels.
6:31 now I am afraid to walk over a glass bridge.
