Here it is – the top 10 most unreliable used cars you can buy in 2024!

We’ve teamed up with the team at Warrantywise to find out which ten cars they rank as the least reliable cars you can buy in 2024. To compile this list, there are a few things to consider regarding this data.

For one, all models included in this list are less than 10 years old, so they’re all relatively new, and the manufacturer warranty has expired for all cars included. The list also excludes vans – we’re only looking at cars here!

The question is, which car will come out on top? There’s a stereotype that Italian cars are notoriously unreliable – will we see a load of Alfas and Fiats appear in the top 10? And on the flip side, will we see any ever-reliable German brands appear in the countdown?

There’s only one way to find out – stick with Mat to see for yourself!

  • Land Rovers have an absolutely dreadful reputation here in Australia. If you're stupid enough to try and go into the outback with these things, they'll strand you. They're actually dangerous in that regard.

  • this sucks my art teacher is makibg me do this boo! fuck this shit

  • Note how many are the sporty versions! Maybe the driving styles were factors???

  • Warrantywise will do anything to not pay out including lie

  • Basically anyone that knows anything about cars will not be suprised. Stay away from LR and German cars. I have seen several vids of RS 6's blowing up boxes on YT. Audi are pathetic

  • Strange to not see the see PSA cars with the oil soaked timing belt that degrades/snaps and destroy the engine …

  • It's long past time to have a serious conversation about overpriced repair parts and overcomplication.

  • OWWWWWdi! Is what you say when to get the bill because your warranty claim is denied. Or it ran out 52 miles ago.

  • People don’t seem to understand that when you have big warranty repairs it decimates the value of your car.

  • Again a great example of the so called German quality : 5 cars out of 10 are German and only 1 is Italian …

  • i think this list is a bit strangely sorted. the Audis and BMWs cost much more on average to fix compared to other brands. but that does not make them less reliable. it makes it just more expensive to fix. which is a problem for the insurance, not the car owner. as the owner i would define a reliable car one that does need fixing often. i think the list would feel more accurate if it was more about the amount of breakdowns and the time fixing rather than the price. and i am very sure the list would look much different with less premium brands in it.

not representative, but like Mat, i never had problems with my latest generation Audi S3. drove 65.000 kilometers and never had a single issue.

  • My Friend had Aidi A7 from new after buying it for £70,000+ and it developed engine problems . The main dealers tried to get out of covering it with the warranty and wanted my friend to pay £10,000 . Several months later and various solicitors involved , they backed down and fixed under warranty .

  • I'm guessing all the gearbox issues were Automatics?

  • It's amazing how readily available such info is on-line and in general, yet people line up and still buy used luxury Euros.

  • If you've got a heavy foot. Anything from the VW group won't support you.

  • Despite their reliability i would still own a range rover. to have a car the can tow anything you want, have room for the whole family, be ridiculously capable offroad and be the last word in luxury would be sensational. its also important to point out that based on the cost of the engine replacements in the discoverys and range rover vogue, these are car optioned with the bottom of the line 4cyl engines which still have issues. their 6 and 8 cylinder engines on the other hand are quite robust.

  • It looks like the sterotype of unreliable cars should be Germany instead of Italy

  • It just proves what a con most of these high end brands are and how expensive owning a car is. Owning a car is a luxury for the working man and the industry is a rip off. Better off buying a cheap runaround or a reliable brand second hand car

  • the gearbox problem on Audi is a very well known issue since years now! mine A4 2009 same issue after 190k km and i've been ask to pay 10k for a new one and i've rather sold the car… so i'm glad i've never bought an Audi again cause the issue seems to be still current ! 😎

  • I have a seat leon cupra 2019 and i did get the coolant issue but it seems to have fixed by itself. I got the warnings about 1 year ago and it was very weird as i didn't see any coolant leaking. But it was low so i filled it up. Then the day after it happened again and im talking about the red warning were there is NO cooling left. So i kept an eye on the temp and it did eventually go up so i had to pull over. But after that i filled it up and then it seemed fine. Don't know what happened just glad it hasn't again ever sense.

  • I wonder how much those outliers impact the algorithm scoring.

  • I fortunately do not own any of these vehicles amd l would never buy them interesting that all I.C.E. vehicles came from Europe and Britain

  • Funny list, because it's utterly useless to normal customers. Only super luxury or rediculous sport versions for the 1% of customers that don't care anyway.
