The Arm architecture has topped the list of world’s TOP 500 supercomputer for the first time, it is a significant sign for the adopting of Arm architecture in the enterprise market. The Arm server has now attracted more and more attention due to its multi-cores, low power consumption, and autonomous control. With more and more CPU vendors joining the Arm camp, it could be a good alternative alongside with X86.
In the Open Infrastructure, OpenStack, Ceph, have enhanced the support on Arm servers for a while, as well as the virtualization level such as Qemu and KVM. Besides, the performance of applications in Big data, Database, and Web have been largely increased after lots of upstreaming work.
In this presentation, we will cover the main open-source communities’ development and performance tuning for Arm64 architecture. Moreover, we will share the challenges we’ve met and the experience we have when landing Arm64 on the Open Infrastructure.
