The ROG Ally is Still Getting Better (Updated Review)
I’ve had the ASUS ROG Ally for six months, so let’s check in and do an updated review based on my experience with both the Z1E and Z1 models, as well as the XG Mobile eGPU. Plus we’ll take a look at the new firmware update that releases at the end of this month.

how to repair windows 7
real windows handheld
My only problem are the thick bezels. That’s it
Nice update. I love these kinds of long term updates.
I completely agree with the face button. Ally is been a perfect handheld for me (aside from SD card problem which I don't give a damn about it) but what the hell is wrong with the buttons? Why it's so clacky, it's annoyed me everyday. I been hoping someone would sell the 3rd party button but we still haven't got one
80 percent good, wish they had an OLED version. The screen is okay, not amazing.
wow look at all that desk space…..you totally have room for at least 4 big ole towers……so its not that you dont have room its that you just dont want one….:)
I have had mine since launch and I love it plays every game I have waited to play my brother in law sold his steam deck and keep his ally they just seem to work
Will buy this when it goes down in price. Here in Chile it’s still around 800 USD. The Switch Oled is around 300 USD.
Getting better? Really? Did a software patch cause the SD card a lot to relocate itself? Nope.
Lenovo Legion wins this one.
I wish OLED refresh would have brought a more powerful system for the Steamdeck.
Yeah I’m definitely waiting on ally and legion go…love my steam deck
Onexplayer 2 pro vs Aokzoe a1 pro wtich is better choice?
Honestly, the fact that I can go out to a shop and get the Ally really makes a huge difference to me. Being in Aus it’s not impossible to get a steam deck but the extra steps are just too inconvenient. The fact the Ally is an awesome unit also makes the decision a lot easier
Now, imagine what legion go can do in 6 months
It's still burning SD Cards, and it's still not running under Steam OS.
Cant update bios, hangs on connecting to internet and eventually says another installed is already in place. Any tips?
Rog Ally causes false bans with activision's anticheat system (CoD). Activision has not addressed the issue, though r/rogally had an announcement about this on Discord, and there have been other reddit threads / videos covering this. it'd be great if you could join in.
Hey thanks for the video.. also a day one user with the 3080 XG mobile.. quick question as I use a double laptop stand too, do you find the ally gets super hot? Also the XG Mobile.. does yours sound like a jet taking off?? Loving the videos mate really informative thanks
I just picked up the rog ally however on my initial set up I was going through down loading all the updates but the armory crate se update will not work for some reason
Yep..my micro sd card reader died on the Ally. They did fix and it works much better.
Hi can someone please help me why i cant update the new ac se version? It always stuck at connecting to the internet😢
I’ve owned all 3 devices (ally, go and SD OLED) the best device for me is the ally. I prefer the 1080p VRR display over the go and 800p OLED
I want one so bad
I don’t think the rog is a better handheld than the deck .a better computer yes but emulation is harder to set up on this thing,it’s better decked as I barely use it as a handheld.oh maybe it’s only mine but it’s does not recognize drives correctly I bought a launchbox ssd-it didn’t work
Thanks Russ. Actually I still like the idea of Logitech and a Mini PC with a RDNA APU. Not or ever been huge on PC games but I would like to emulate PS3.
Those two devices give me all the above and still portable with good battery life.
I've done several surveys about all three devices. I would get the Ally, Legion Go then the Steam Deck as I still find issues with anything Linux based because at some point you will have to get into the console command line to do something which I can't stand.
