Im 100% with Ruuts. I've always used virtual desktop and thought I'd have a go with oculus link to see if there was a difference. Couldn't get it connected for days. Then out of nowhere it worked wirelessly and seemed to look and run better than virtual desktop. Went back to it the next day without changing a thing and it just would not connect, with or without the link cable. So frustrating!!
Great show, everyone 👏
The things Ruuts says about the problems of Quest PCVR aren't representative of the majority of users. PCVR in general is pure friction compared to standalone or PSVR2 but link has improved a lot over time and I find it flawless nowadays. The PCVR users who want displayport are a tiny minority within a tiny minority. If you can spend $3000 on a PC you can buy a Varjo or something tailored for high end PC enthusiasts
Thanks for a wonderful discussion, cheers! 🍻
Pulling people down to hell in the vampire game reminded me of it happening to the bad guy in the movie Ghost
I remember when someone tried to turn Alyx into a flat game, not sure what happened to it
If I remember correctly, the first Kinect was the fastest selling peripheral and was not bundled. It was the Kinect 2 that was bundled when Xbox One came out.
#1 game I go into bc it's fun: Compound. The Light Brigade didn't do it for me. I think it was the drab, washed out artwork.
What Ruuts is talking about with the connectivity problems and trouble shooting with the quests and PCVR is the MAIN REASON why I literally hate PCVR. It's not the games, it's the god damn software. SteamVR is abject trash. Airlink is a fricken nightmare.. And then there's all the different runtimes that sometimes work, sometimes don't..
Stuff needs to just work. That's why I have 300 hours of GT7 this year and like MAYBE 10 hours of PCVR. It's also what I love about Contractors on the Quest 2 and 3, it just works every time.. I've played hundreds of hours of contractors native on the Q2, played MAYBE 30 minutes on PCVR…
This is partly why I'm so bummed about PSVR2.. I just want those big great games without having to deal with PCVR on a quest… But Sony's like "nah" for now.
57:10 Thanks Wes for mentioning Genotype and i got convinced after the last Virtual Strangers podcast, tried it for the first time today, just in time for that Quest 3 update, it looks great, so far very cool and atmospheric game. Really enjoying it so far. And it runs super smooth!
That was a really great show tonight! I could listen to you guys wax and wane VR (not to mention wherever the conversation leads) all day lol. 😄🤘
Games like Uncharted are what we need on PSVR2, it's disappointing that a bedroom coder can bring these games to VR but a huge company with the resources of Sony seem uninterested.
Ruuts! great show guys!
13:31 Phantom Liberty 🙂
