The Way to Cloud Foundry with IPv4+IPv6 Dual Stack at SAP – Alexander Lais, SAP SE

SAP is operating Cloud Foundry environments with thousands of users and hundreds of thousands of apps. Demand for IPv6 support is increasing in the customer base and we are taking steps to accommodate it. In this talk, Alexander from the SAP Cloud Foundry Routing & Networking team presents the envisaged way towards enabling IPv6 support, open points and questions as well as topics that benefit from discussions with the CF community. The major topics are: * Fundamental types of IPv6 support, and design trade-offs * Assessment of Ingress and Egress across different hyperscalers (work in progress) * Possible approaches and required work for adding IPv6 support for egress in CF workloads, ranging * from the “minimal” way with an IPv6 enabled proxy * to the full fledged solution with per-container addresses, the benefits and simplified architecture * Collaboration with and Contributions to the CF Community * Food for thought and base for a discussion of ideas and feedback from the routing & VM networking community members and other CF operators. * We want to contribute findings, code and best practices to the various CF projects and working groups
