  • "Only suited for grandma or decoration"

I must tell my wife this, as she is using hers for her photography business and for digital arts and crafts.

I'm typing this on my mac mini M1 – perhaps only suited for Grandpa or a paper weight?
Oddly, I seem able to do modern software development, graphics work and even some light video work with it.

This channel lives in an alternate universe where money is no object, where computers are just there to benchmark or edit the video footage for the youTube channel.
The benchmarks are often based on the task.

It's bonkers really, having so little relevance to probably 99% of users.

  • I want one so bad but it would only be used for web browsing, email checking and YouTube watching

  • The iMac is somehow simultaneously too expensive and a great deal;

It is not the cheapest Mac. You can get a Mac Mini or a MacBook Air for a significant price cute. So if all you want is a cheap Mac to get the job done, the iMac isn't for you.

On the other hand, that display is something else. The power for the price is virtually unbeatable in this class of product.

    Well done Apple.

  • I'd recommend the laptops. The iMac is just a laptop you can't take anywhere.

  • I love the design but find it super hard to move on from the final 27” inch iMac they made, which let me upgrade up to 64GB of ram (I only have 32gb at the moment). Feels pretty low to see 16gb as an “upgrade” haha

  • If you’re only making one model, why not pick the 27inch. It would have been perfect. Finally convincing me to upgrade from my older iMac.

  • Bro you got me confused,
Now tell me the best thing mac product with performance and best power, i.e. the ideal MacBook

  • I was about to ask how the hell you handle macOS with a mouse – I'm a new owner and the OS seems comically laptop-centric with its garbage window management outside Mission Control and Mission Control hotkeys clearly being built around a laptop use case of both hands on the keyboard (at which point just use touchpad gestures). Trying to use a normal mouse with the MBA has been a pain because of that.

But yeah, if you have a mouse that supports them, fair enough.

  • I have work to do, my back would kill me if I did everything on a tiny laptop. Besides I bleed six colors, and windows 11 is so much worse than 10 which was fine. The last windows I could stand without pulling my hair out was 7. LOL

  • 4:38 I’m sorry could you run that by me again???? 👁️👄👁️

  • Is it sad how I upgraded (yes, upgraded) to a refurbished Mac mini from 2014 with a fourth gen i5 processor…

  • 2020 iMac looks better, way more elegant (classy). I like its stand even more than current one.

  • How could 24 inch screen be all I need? It’s something one can live with if there are no alternatives. Even my office provides dual 27 inch monitors. I don’t think I would ever purchase any thing smaller than 27 inch. Maybe for kids but definitely not me.

  • It’s a non-starter for me until it has a bigger screen. Went with a top end mini and non Apple display.

  • I hate the thick bezels. There’s no reason the iMac should have those criminally large bezels in 2023.

  • Thank you, for this excellent review video. Also, thank you for pointing out that both the colorful 24-inch M-1 and M-3 iMac's come with only Fire-wire 3 ports and, not with Fire-wire 4 ports as on the "mac mini" model. It appears, I had assumed incorrectly that, USB "C" 4, was equal to thunderbolt 4. Looks like Apple, Inc. is again cutting corners, just to save a few dollars. Like yourself, I too am a bit different. If getting to select an office computer to use today, I would pick Apple's discontinued "space gray" 27-inch iMac Pro model with its matching "space gray" accessories (i.e. keyboard, track pad, and mouse).

  • No, I would “not” get an iMac, …at all. I’m still using {quite nicely btw} my 2015 1st gen. IPad Pro, but then again I’m a retire professor {philosophy & psychology} and therefore don’t do photo-editing, run engineering or architecture programs [like 2 of my children do]. I also use my M1 MacBook Air, and have an updated 14” HP 2017 PC laptop [which I keep in pristine condition]; …did I mention I only write and do research; and, everything is running via Microsoft Word/365. Really like your videos {sometimes a bit too technical for my needs, but good job 👍🏼, nonetheless}.
