  • I read an MS WOS vs GNU/Linux game benchmark where GNU (proton) won by 14% in average.
I think that making sub categories – DOS // dx9 // dx10 // dx11 // dx12 // Opengl // Vulkan // and games with Linux (and MS) versions – would be a better benchmark, and that the Asrock SBC is a great plattform to test kernels, and even different Linux kernels (configurations).
And if you do not have the time, or do not want to, collect those that other people do.

  • Everything is good except the pricing. 580$ just for board and processor is way too much.

    This should cost around 250$.

If they price it as 250$, then
    Board with processor = 250$
    256gb nvme ssd = 25$ (Amazon price)
    2X Crucial 8gb Ram 5600Mhz( 16GB) = 60$( Amazon price)
720p oled display, Outercase and Controller = 165$. (If company ordered it as bulk/mass manufacturing)
No OS (So people install whatever OS they want, we can also use Windows non activated free version anyways we going to get software updates)

Then boom we have a handheld PC for just 500$.

If companies purchase ram and storage as bulk then cost will be reduced even further for them.

  • …. Except as a retail customer You can't buy them. I've tried with one of the other AsRock "Industrial" boards. I'd be well up for some level of Atom with dual intel ethernets if the price was right

  • At the price this thing sells for, just buy a Steam Deck.

  • but its not an SBC… "A Single-Board Computer (SBC) is a complete, functioning computer in which the microprocessor, input/output functions, memory, and other features are all built on a singe circuit board, with RAM built in at a pre-determined amount and with no expansion slots for peripherals."

  • USB boot volume + m.2 –> OccuLink to eGPU?

  • How is performance at a lower tdp?

I desperately want to get a miniPC like with ideally with a 7840u but I want to know how performance scales with power.

If the 7840u is 15/25/35/50/75 watts, where's the sweet spot for efficiency?

In Europe, energy costs are crazy

  • thank you man for the great video, I'm a World of warcraft addicted player, i almost play wow only all day, i wonder if this system can run it MAX settings 1440p over 60 fps , if it would then i'll be so inteserted to buy it

  • Some SBC Proton will change Linux gaming.

    There, I fixed it.

  • it would be cool to see a budget gpu added to that, to see how well it would run
