  • as someone of the lgbt community, ive been following you online for a while, and while alt of our aspects do have a form of disagree, i feel time after time again, youre a person thats open for "agreeing to disagreeing". a aspect many paoeple lack sadly, but you do not in my opinion. it makes me respect you quite a bit, as a person, as a humane being.
i am not forming a opinion on this as i only watched your side, but looking at the comments of said other person he is going after your suppoorters too, which is a form of "echo chamber" behaviour and not what is needed for a good and open discussion, taking this into account, and you not taking sushc a stance, i am way more leaning towards your side of this thing. in fairness, you're one of the few people that i can watch multiple videos in a row of, because of the sometimes ragey comedic value you provide. it makes it not-boring and is way less pre-chewed.

i hope the other creator calling you out at least is open to a conversation instead of a blabant what seems to be smearing campaign and get help, becuase i do agree, theres something that needs attention, if anything, social skills in open conversations (reaching out) would be much better..
i am not going to make a tldr of this because i cant as im way too sleepy right now.

  • I'm an atheist and have been a fan of both you and Trafotin. It does seem like his attack on you is way out in left field. I got no problems with what you say. I've disagreed with you several times, but that's what being human and having discourse is about. Keep doin you. And… I really don't think you should take your supporters off your credits. Maybe give them a disclaimer/option, but I bet that people who are currently supporting you, monetarily, would be willing to stand with you.

  • Been following your channel since probably 2018 I think. I have no idea where/why anyone would get the idea that you are any of the things he says. I reported his video & channel for the hit piece and for his comment of engaging in "a coordinated effort" to bring down your channel or to somehow shame you into submission. This guy obviously doesn't understand that people like you (and me) don't simply wilt and cower behind our firewalls. Keep up the great work my friend, appreciate your channel AND especially, you personally.

  • Why would you even give extra eyeball time to this crap by addressing it on your channel? I don't see why ignoring it as it is crap wouldn't be better.

  • I Just unsubscribed from Trafotin … I will not support anyone that have a problem with different type of views, and I'm watching your channel because of Tech and Linux, not because of your Views or religion. He is having problems with your views and in a same time he doesn't have flexibility an acceptance for different views .. Just doesn't make any sense .. Anyway, keep up doing Linux and Tech stuff. People watching channels like yours and DT and anyone else are here because of Tech stuff, not Religion and Politics .. All the best ..

  • "secondhand news articles" Isn't that pretty commonplace among most Youtubers anyway? Not saying it's a good thing, but seems like Trafotin is pinning that whole issue on Tom when it could easily be applied to almost everyone.

  • I always thought Traphoney was annoying anyway… he don't matter.

  • You are kind of an arrogant douche though, you act like a know it all when you’re provably wrong most of the time.

  • My 2 least favorite linux youtubers are having drama how odd 🤣

  • As someone who is ideologically vehemently opposed to Christianity, I couldn't care less about the theological squabbles in this drama. I just like to watch your weekly news roundup videos. Trafotin is really, really stupid for thinking anyone would care about any supposed "hate content" in the Linux community, lole. I don't care what your political leanings are as long as you promote digital privacy.

  • What a shame that Trafotin decided to go down this route. I had high expectations for his channel, but going on a "coordinated effort" to hurt someone's livelihood because of political disagreements is something I cannot support. He seems to think that the Linux community must have a monolithic, progressive view of the world, when the only thing that really unites us is… Linux, and that's it. Nothing about using Linux entails that you must believe X or Y in politics, religion, etc. (Btw, he seems to be ignorant of religious history if he thinks a conservative viewpoint on you-know-what is somehow extremist or "right wing".) Through the years, I've had unsubscribe from Linux youtubers precisely because they feel the need to inject drama and politics into their content, and I really just want to hear about technology. This is why we can't have nice things.

  • Subscribed.
Who cares what Trafotin's whining about? The most disappointing thing about this tempest in a teacup is that Nicco signed on. Be careful when you choose your friends.

  • I love your channel and have learned so much, I don't like many channels due to the attitudes out there. They get a little popular and turn into "all about me" . Yours has been very informative which is what I am looking for. I only subscribe to a channel if there is something I can take away and use.

  • Dude, I like your intro. It's not really dated or anything to me, has enough going on, represents the channel name with a on switch and a penguin. I'm not saying it's the best, but it's definitely far from the worst intro any youtuber could use, and I think is decently professional. It works for you. At first in this video I wondered what happened to that intro at first in all honesty was my first thought.

  • I have watched some videos by Trafotin and find his voice very annoying and most of what I have seen of his videos has not impressed me so thus I no longer click on any of his videos. On the other hand I have been watching your channel for years as with Distro Tube's channel. Keep doing what you do Tom as I always enjoy your content.

  • I love it when the first thing someone says about a PhD is that they lack basic reading-comprehension.

  • i just went and watched about of this guy's video, sorry he sounds like a genz whinny butt lol just ignore him. he isnt worth your time.

  • Don't care about that type of people. Linux Mint is in your heart as it is in mine. Keep up the good content for the next 7 years.

  • Why do the ones that don't think they're fascists are always the ones that are fascists…

The man doesn't like some of your views, he basically wants to shut you down, it's crazy.

  • I have no idea what Trafotin thought he has to gain by attacking you or Nico by attacking Lunduke. Totally unjustified. And there are a ton of ways that he could have expressed his discontent without being aggressive.
I wrote a small comment defending your work at his video because it has been very helpful to me in initially switching to linux around 2017, keep going Tom and thanks for everything.

  • Trafotin's 25 pages of criticism will no doubt have a lot of holes, and you are right to call out the hypocracy of his calling you a bad journalist while failing to reach out to you for comment. I also am not a journalist, but few weeks ago I criticized you directly with just two or three sentences right here in the YouTube comments, which of course leaves you an open option to respond to the criticism. Instead, my comment was deleted within a half hour. I believe my comment went something like "I went to the other platform to check out The Banned News. Buying into one side of "the division game" makes you just another normie. Rebroadcasting the crap makes you part of the problem."

Now I also want to point out that you have also been hypocritical. You've stressed a few times lately that the Antix distro should not contain "political opinion" bookmarks without being in some way pre-advertised as being this type of specialty distro. I agree with your opinion on that matter. You should practice what you preach, and run a channel called "Switched To Linux" which is completely free of being peppered here and there with little one-sided political reference jokes in your Weekly News Roundup, and also not include leading your live audience to "The Banned News", which is mostly a rebroadcasting of ridiculous one-sided political propaganda. You're entitled to your opinions like anybody, but on an advertised Linux / general tech channel, political content does not belong.

I am staying subscribed because I find most of the tech-related content to be worth watching, although the sour taste of unwanted political content leaves me not wanting to bother with your livestreams.

  • I like being informed about Linux, which is why I subscribed and watch your channel and not his. There's nothing wrong with your intro.

  • Politically I am centre left and a "lapsed Catholic" who no longer gets involved in organised religion.

But Linux is about about enjoying computing freedoms and having interesting discussions with other like-minded people, and that I why I remain a subscriber here.

It's your channel, you can run it how you like – and I, as a critical thinking adult, rather than a self-entitled child expecting everything that everyone else does to confirm to my own personal "editorial standards", can either watch your content or not watch it. That is my choice.

In my case, I enjoy your content for what it is and accept that on political and religious issues, there are probably some things we'd differ on but that they are irrelevant to simply talking about and following a free software philosophy. I therefore just ignore them.

If anything, I admire the fact that you have got a "nomadic lifestyle" to work as well as you appear to have done and, to me, it's a "natural progression" from enjoying free software to also enjoying a good proportion of freedom in your lifestyle too.

  • @SwitchedtoLinux…. I have no doubt he is wrong .he also attacked DT recently, over the Ebuzz drama, he was wrong in some facts about the sulituation as I was involved in it to more than DT but he put it all on DT…so he truly dose not use journalistic research or even amature research in his videos, as a linux youtuber I'm left asking how does this type of behavior help linux or the community that I so much love and support.. im.sorry this has happened to you

  • Do you really want to be wasting your time talking about this person?

  • Keep strong, your channel is entertaining and informative. I do not care about religion or politics when watching tech news. I care about fairness, sensible perspective. And that's what you are providing.

  • Some form of mental illness….you think.(Hey, i think you're an outstanding job on your videos. Keep it up).

  • Everyone has an opinion and their content will be biased, but that doesn't mean that if you don't like the personal beliefs/opinions, you must attack the content. I enjoy your content, you are not hateful, you are passionate, and you care about the linux community so much that flaws and errors trigger you, which is fine, it is who you are. You have some political stands that I don't personal agree with, but 90 – 95% of the content is about linux and not about those stands, so I can enjoy and even learn about a different perspective. Let's hope that this guy calms down, so he can stop attacking people. I won't say anything bad about him, because he has a political and personal stand that I don't agree with, but we should treat each other with respect, not pointing fingers and attacking.
    Best wishes for all.

  • Maybe it's just me, but as for Trafotin, I have a hard time taking anyone seriously who has a channel where they hide behind a cartoon character to speak. Says a whole lot about their credibility in my opinion.

  • Your estimation as to his age and his comments of you being "hateful" makes me sad. Because in OUR youth (1990-ies) it was widespread idea that "we are free so we can do whatever we like". This sentiment was global – for example many times in his videos Dave Cullen/Computimng Forever voiced the same view. Yet here we have a young person advocating for lack of freedom. And it is consistent with my observations about youth today – right now we have legislation coming (in Poland) to ban "hate speech" and it is proposed by parties massively voted in by the youth. I cannot wrap my head around this. For me the Internet was supposed to free us completely. If some government doesn't like some views, I can voice them in other jurisdiction and be totally free. The purpose of the Internet, as I saw it, was to FREE people.
And now it seems that freedom is considered threatening and not a prerequisite of a good life.

  • Nothing pushes me away from society more than this all or nothing thing the kids do now. When I joined the internet in the late 90's, I was overjoyed that I could go out and meet people from anywhere, any group or religion or nationality or gender identity. As long as you were nice [and it took some effort to learn to accept people so openly], anyone could be my friend. Now there's so much tribalism and people building fantastically vague moral cathedrals for their group to huddle inside of, I've lost the energy to socialise online much any more. I refuse to pick a camp. if that's what we're doing now, I don't want to be a part of any online "community". What an absolutely ridiculous and tragic situation.

  • Your long-form rebuttal on Odyssey is impressive. For anyone who wants to watch, it’s linked in the description of the shorter rebuttal on Odyssey.

  • Anybody going to these lengths to hurt another person clearly has some issues.

  • Sometimes it's not worth wasting oxygen on people that hate so much.
If you look at the numbers, subscribers, veiws etc, there is not a huge audience for the person in question.
If I didn't see your video about this I probably would never have seen his hate/Hit piece.
Let it go Tom, Be the bigger party in this, anyone who takes one view purely on the views of another, without due dilligence,,,,, well you dont need that type as subscribers anyway.
    All the best Tom,

  • I don't always agree with you, but you are not the hatefull person what he claims i unsubscribe to him. Sorry for my bad Engels its not my first language

  • Just because of that hater I’m going to go buy your book. I’ll wait till after the 48 hours. Love your work Tom. don’t ever change.
