Phone Link is a great way to connect your Android phone and Windows computer. It not only allows you to access your messages and receive calls but also gives you access to all your media files. In this post, we will see how you can turn on or off Phone Link wallpaper on a Windows 11 computer.
How to turn on or off Phone Link wallpaper on Windows 11?
When you use the Phone Link app on your computer, you may have noticed that your current Android wallpaper is being displayed in the left section of the window. Even though it is harmless, your GPU still needs some processing power to render the graphics without any reason. So, we will turn off the Phone Link wallpaper, making it less GPU-consuming for you.
You can follow the steps below to turn on or off the Phone Link wallpaper on Windows 11.
- Launch the Phone Link app on your computer.
- Make sure that both your computer and the phone are connected.
- Now, click on the cog icon to open Settings.
- Go to the Features tab and then click on disable the toggle for Wallpaper that says “Make app background the same as my Android device’s wallpaper”.
This will remove the transparent wallpaper that you see in the notification section of your Phone Link app. To turn it back on, you need to just enable the toggle.

Note: If you are using Windows 10, go to Settings > Personalization and then enable or disable the ‘Make app background the same as my phone’s wallpaper’ option.
However, if for some reason you are unable to see the wallpaper or the option to toggle on the Wallpaper is disabled, first of all, make sure that both the devices are synced over WiFi as well as Mobile Data (if you are using it). Next up, we need to enable Transparent Mode as the feature won’t work if the option is disabled.
To do the same, follow the steps mentioned below.
- Open Settings by Win + I.
- Now, go to Personalization.
- You then have to click on the Colors option.
- Finally, look for Transparency effects and turn it on.
Once you have enabled the Transparency effects, go ahead and turn on the Wallpapers.

How do I turn off Phone Link on Windows 11?
Since Phone Link is integrated with Windows, you can disable it from the Windows Settings. To do the same, open Settings by Win + I, go to Bluetooth & devices, and click on Mobile devices. You can now turn the toggle on or off for Phone Link.

How to stop Phone Link from running in background in Windows 11?
You can forbid the background activity of the Phone Link from the Settings app. To do so, open Settings, go to Apps > Installed apps, and then click on System Components from the bottom. Search for the Phone Link, click on the three dots, and then set the Background component permission to Never. And then click on Terminate to kill all the current sessions.
