Overall, Ubuntu 20.04 lts focal fossa is just fine. It doesn’t do anything particular well (besides being the target Linux distribution for tens of thousands of companies worldwide) but it also doesn’t particularly do anything badly, except for maybe the Software Center itself, which seemed pretty flaky.
I would not recommend using vanilla Ubuntu as your daily distro. Instead, I recommend perusing the many flavors of Ubuntu and selecting the one that fits your needs best – https://ubuntu.com/download/flavours
If you *must* use Gnome, I would strongly recommend Pop_OS! over vanilla Ubuntu for every-day desktop usage.
