  • 22.10 installer window dissapears during installation, cursor spinning cycle is not stuck. Has anyone encountered this? Please help! Cant install on usb

  • 3:48 I don't understand. you say it takes 35 seconds to boot and we see it took 44.691 seconds. was it two different system, one took 35 seconds and this one took 44.691 seconds?

  • I have even worse experience with Ubuntu 22.04. I made a mistake to put it on my work laptpo. OMG….

  • I abandoned Ubuntu due to several problems with Snap, in addition to the non-updates of the core Gnome applications. I switched to Fedora and luckily everything has been fine so far 🙂

  • Average Kinux user. Sums me up perfectly… 😛

  • @8:00 the failure of the clipboard is actually a GNOME bug not a firefox bug. GNOME seems to keep the clipboard state in the app and only put a pointer to that state in the clipboard, so when the app closes the clipboard state dies with the app. Even if you install a persistent clipboard tool like clipman etc, the copy never actually hits the clipboard unless you successfully paste it once before you close the source app. This is not new and this has been driving people crazy ever since GNOME 3 rose to infamy/popularity. Sadly, this bug persists even if you install a different window manager, as it's the GNOME UI libraries that Firefox is relying on which implements this insane behaviour. I've been able to reliably crash "Files" by renaming a zip file that has a thumbnail from the console while its parent directory is being viewed in Files.

  • And btw bugs are not yet fixed.
Canonical messed up big this time

  • How do you increase decrease fan speed as Ubuntu does not manage it properly. And laptops gets hotter and hotter.

  • Yeah – Snaps are the bane of my Ubuntu experience. Not only that, they pollute the output of the df command. Frankly, if I was to compare snaps and Unity – it'll be Unity ALL THE TIME!

I really hope Canonical kill off snaps on the desktop. They are handy on a server, but they are nowhere near ready for the desktop!

  • when I installed ubuntu 22.04 got installation crashed how can I fix it?

  • The number of 22.04 issues I've encountered so far is so high I am virtually not using the new laptop I had intented to migrate to. From relatively minor (some adjustments like screen brightness stopped working) to major ones, e.g. I cannot save files from browsers to any location other than the default, python2 apps are no longer supported or it's really tricky to install them (e.g. Mendeley). Some problems took days to resolve.
A relatively minor thing yet really annoying is that you can no longer use custom key combinations for keyboard layout, e.g. Ctrl+Shift: GNOME Tweaks switches the layout but it is not indicated on language icon. Only Win+Space works ok.

  • I have lived with 22.04 for a week now. My experience with the Grub boot loader is problematic. Previous versions just worked. This version makes me have to deal with the uefi partician manually. Formerly, grub took care of everything. In order to get sterio sound, I have to load openal and install manually. Former versions took care of this. It looks like the use of PipeWire for sound needs some work in this version of Ubuntu. In order for Java to work properly, libFuse2 must be installed manually. Formerly, it was included. I use linux for flight simulation. The above issues are so annoying to me that I have gone back to the current version of Mint Cinnamon because everything just works. Canonical, get these kinds of things sorted out before you release a new version.

  • I installed Kubuntu from a USB that I'd created with dd onto a multi-boot Linux system and didn't have any issues (UEFI). It does boot slowly however. I have had a lot of other problems with booting from ISOs copied to USB with dd, mainly Windows, some Linux distros.

I personally would prefer to keep everything in APT, but understand that there are issues with that. Firefox is my main app too.

So far K/Ubuntu is working well for me although it's not my main distro. I'm running the GNOME variant in a VM.

Great to see your channel thriving!

  • Hey ,
Average Linux User, Please make a video about kde neon iso verification. Love your video 👍👍

  • It also broke my Bluetooth connectivity, sometimes it works but mostly it refuses to connect to my devices. If it does connect then the sound output menu is missing the entry of my Bluetooth speakers so I still don't hear anything. Nothing has helped so far

  • I tried to install ubuntu & ubuntu mate 22.04 in my 2014 Asus x555Ld, I found out that Bluetooth is not working I can't even turn it on and even connected to my wifi it say check internet connection, I don't know what is the reason behind. If you have any good idea how to fix that issue in ubuntu & ubuntu mate 22.04 kindly share it to us. Thank you.

  • Another issue I discovered is the PDF document viewer does not Save current settings when you change them such as setting the zoom to 50%. It forgets the settings every time. Still do not like Snaps because they are slow but I don't use Firefox anyway so whatever but I did install the Snap version of Spotify and it opens very quickly but it's mostly a web app anyway. Otherwise, I have to say this is the best Ubuntu I've seen in a long time.
I don't notice any long boot up times after installation only during the initial 'Try Ubuntu' setup on boot media.
