I`ve been using ubuntu since 10.10 and installed 22.04 just recently – and I must say its a pile of garbage. Since installation of 22.04 I`ve experienced a series of substantial issues which have not appeared in such density on previous distributions. Just to mention a few. Right of the bat clean 22.04 installation wont boot. Then after kernel update it stopped detecting wifi – I ended up connecting a cable. I have trouble connecting to VPN. Some strange process in random moments is eating tons of CPU (tacker-miner-fs-3). At some point tring to fix issues I had I broke the firefox snap, I could not remove it because snap said its not installed, and could not install it because snap said its already there, it was quicker to reinstall the whole distribution then try to fix the broken snap. Just today – it stopped detecting my second display. I strongly advise against installing this distribution if you have other options – dont do it. I lost not only time, and money, but also trust in ubuntu 🙁
Ubuntu is nice, but I always seem to get a hang up on Audio and Wireless divers.
If they just would focus on improving support for Networking, Audio, and Video – that covers most uses for most people.
The upgrade is beautiful – very smooth and easy to use desktop. Thanks GNOME ! 🙂
I still dont understand. what is the point of the gnome top panel??
How to disable every time to input password when I need to install something?
I've been on linux (mostly ubuntu) for almost ten years now and I am starting to feel I need to move away from it. Everytime I move to a new version the experience I have seems to degrade even more. Snaps feel equivalent to PWAs in web technology: it doesn't work right but it is cheap and easy to produce. Maybe Canonical sees a way forward here, especially for more typical users, but it is losing it's charm for me.
this Jammy jellyfish always makes my machine freeze. not reliable.
when I install citrix client (icaclient v 23) on ubuntu 22.04, after installation, remote desktop viewer "remmina' does not start cannot be started, stops working.
Remember this is free os
I just updated to 22.04 and am enjoying it a lot. Listening to you, for a second, I thought I was listening to Professor Denzil Dexter 😜
Yep – when you tested fedora you showed it all – Text Editor is on version 42.rc1 – not even a final release. There is nothing wrong having gnome 41 apps inside gnome 42. this is stable and perfectly viable
My 4 core PC starts up slowly and Chrome takes long to open the first time. Will this run on a two core processor like a Celeron?
Your criticism about inconsistency makes no sense, Ubuntu has no inconsistency, using more stable apps is more important on an LTS, Even the theme that Ubuntu uses works much better in apps of different versions of Gnome while in Fedora the difference is visible.
I can't use "whereami" in Ubuntu 22.04 do u know y?
one problem is I hate snap and this version relies heavily on snapd. the first thing I do after installing ubuntu is I remove snap. in his case it can cause problem
Your video is great! And I love this channel more because of the Buddha at the back. Go meditation ❤❤❤
Your frankengnome comments aren't realistic. Gnome 42 wasn't fully ready when Ubuntu were preparing their LTS, so they included by default what they felt was ready for prime time. In your own video you can see the version of Text Editor is 42.rc1 (release candidate 1). That's not a final version. The first final version passing the automated tests was 42.1 on Apr 21 2022. Way too late. You can check that on the project's repo.
Desktop version is also supported for 5 years.
Quick question (I hope) When I first installed 22.04LTS, when opening "Applications" I got a tiled view of available installable apps. Now when I open "Applications" I get a swipe right or left display of one app at a time. Can I switch it back to the tiled view, so I can scroll through the apps available for installation? Thanks for your time. God bless and stay well.
I couldn’t get Gnome to sort desktop icons with folders first, then files, each category alphabetized, so I switched to the Nemo desktop. In the terminal, type sudo apt install nemo. Open Startup applications and add nemo-desktop. In Extensions, turn off Desktop Icons NG. Log out and back in. On the desktop, folders are displayed first, then files, each alphabetized. Nemo desktop also auto arranges icons on the fly.
I just find the Ubuntu desktop to be much more intuitive than the plain Gnome desktop.
I think the vast majority of Ubuntu 22.04 criticism is much ado about little to nothing. Compared to the many other available distros out there, I personally find it to be almost perfect.
Talking about breaking stuff, It broke every tweak I added in the last two years. What a piece of c… Badly done, rushed release.
Good revie!
On my Galago Pro 4, I love it 😀 The only gripe I had was the horizontal scrolling on the "Applications Menu". Other than that, it's super snappy…..and firefox takes 2 seconds to boot up; speaking of SNAPS. I uninstalled firefox since I don't use it 😀 SNAPS are awesome 😀
kodi on ubuntu 22.04 can`t install add on?
Upgrade vs. Clean Install ? I am aware most people will recommend a clean install for various reasons but what I would like to know is do most if not all things continue to work okay with the upgrade. Since doing a clean install means reinstalling most software I'd rather not do that because dammit I'm lazy. I've used Ubuntu since version 14.04LTS and have always done a clean install, but I guess I'm looking for a break on this one. Like many here I'm not into the mechanics of the distro, I just want it to work so I can work.
Yes. Great review.
I’m just an average user and can’t tell any difference between the old and new. New one seems a bit smoother when switching workspaces. Also, my apache2 and php got upgrades as well – didn’t expect that!
It's FOSS 的 Abhishek Prakash 在 How to Clean Up Snap Package Versions in Linux 介紹如何撰寫 shell script 刪除佔用空間的舊 Snap。
Hum, crashed, bashed, sassed and burned when I installed it. Kernel got lost somewhere and got the OOPS I'M A BRICK white screen, when ever I got anything except a freeze in terminal.
Second try (Two days with SystemRescue stick, etc.) worked and luckily I recovered most of my data. Back up often! Problem was, I think, more my wood fired router and string tin can internet linking from here in North Pole, Alaska down to wherever than the Ubuntu installer.
Firefox being snap isn't really a big issue considering how Firefox is in general pretty awful, and Microsoft Edge is available on Linux.
Snap is a huge mess, ubuntu 22.04 might be better than older versions for the last The only IDE I got working was microsofts, it feels like a bought out distro honestly to be bad and promote microsoft. I got a better experience out of a 10 years older release. I gotten better experiences out of absolute linux running on a old mid 90's desktop.
I have upgraded from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04. It worked pretty well, but when I log in (with wayland or xorg) my background picture is not taking the full screen and on the top I have a search bar. I need to click on the reduced background pic so the background pic takes the whole screen. it wasn't like that on ubuntu 20.04. what do I have to disable so I don't have that reduced background with that search bar at the top when I have logged in?
Is it safe to change the Ubuntu theme look like Mac Os?
Nice review. I found the video grabs where blue light blocking (night mode) is on was a bit obnoxious.
Hi. I found an Error while Running CI/CD Pipeline – jenkins Container with minikube.
During docker build . stage i got the following error:
docker: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.32' not found (required by docker)
docker: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.34' not found (required by docker)
all other minikube integration ~/.kube/config file and other Credentials are added properly.
My current libc6 package is 2.35.
Pipeline JOb Failed. Could you please help me?
Having listened to your review, I'd like to ask you if you wouldn't mind to make a comparison review between Debian and Ubuntu?
some of us have the ACPI error on booting… why ?
7:40 😂😂
my video card is broke Ubuntu 22.04 i will not upgrade video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti it is junk
As an Ubuntu user I really don't notice or care for that fragmentation you mention, I do care that is a great desktop experience which it's.
I believe you're make a big deal about a thing most users will not notice or care about.
Also Ubuntu is not replacing components of GNOME, for something different, they're are just keeping components on relatively recent previous versions, so there's no strong merit on claims, that's it's no longer GNOME. GNOME is GNOME!
As far as I know all LTS no matter if desktop or server are supported by 5 years + 5 years of ESM.
What's supported for 3 years are the flavours.
