Both are amazing choices with really impressive feature sets. Superior stability, fantastic software availability, and a strong community to name some. But at the same time, there are striking differences between them, and with the latest Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and Linux Mint 21 releases, these differences have only grown bigger.
In fact, Linux Mint and ubuntu couldn’t be further away from each other. They both use different desktop environments, different unified package managers, there are differences in the performance, stability, and philosophy of these two operating systems and the list just goes on.

  • Linux simply Rocks, I use RichARCH btw. With it I was able to get Arch Linux up and running simply and quickly.

  • Honestly, I tried searching for just one review/comparison video that went over everything from UI to ease of use, but not one was like yours. Thank you!

  • Both are great and as you said the interface is what really separates. I fall into the gnome camp and even though I have used mint off and on for years, I always venture out to something else (maybe cinnamon reminds me too much of windows :). Currently, I have landed back on Fedora and could not be happier. It is a place I think I will stay for sometime. We will see…. ; )

  • I installed all distros, in the end i chose Mint.

  • I choose Linux Mint due familiarity, and also the community around it, the forum is quite responsive and helpful. Although I acknowledge that is thanks to Ubuntu that Linux mint exists,,, and at the end of the day it comes out to personal preferences.

  • So far i worked on windows 10 and lately have installed wsl and docker to use more linux stuff, also to interact with remote servers that run linux system. Would using a bit of bash scripting and general use of the terminal be a reason to use ubuntu over mint?

  • Ive been looking for a video like this for months. Thank you ❤😊

  • I have used both Vera and Jelly for two months each. But I lean more on Ubuntu specially on other flavors like the Gnome, Unity Remix and Kubuntu. Probably because I got tired of using the Windows UI so I felt like that Linux Mint has been looking like a Windows to me as well. But I'll reinstall Vera in my old desktop and leave Jelly in my new laptop.

  • Pop OS over Ubuntu or Mint on heavier hardware and Feren OS for older machines

  • Having used Ubuntu since Gutsy Gibon, I have now completely moved away from Ubuntu and switched to Linux Mint. Although I am just and experienced user, I do not like the standard desktop and continued to use the Ubuntu Mate Flavor. Last version ware getting far to buggy to my taste. Now using Mint Mate: it is just so much more stable!

  • I have been using Ubuntu 22.04 for some time, but the recent updates breaks Pihole FTL connection. So I am trying Mint today.

  • Love the comparison
Please i really need help. I tried to install ubuntu but it always get stuck at the booting/installing process. I don't know why it's like that and how to go about it 😟

  • Awesome video, u jus earned urself another subscriber 😎🔥🔥

  • I never use Mint before so my question is on performance for older hardware which one is better, Lubuntu or Linux Mint?

  • It's simple… If you have a low configured pc than go for "Linux mint" or If you have a high or medium configured pc than go for "Ubuntu"

  • Mint is awesome but I have a soft spot for GNOME

  • NO CONTEST AT ALL— MINT– hands down.. even a caveman would think so.

  • Mint has always been my favorit debian distro.. I felt no change when I moved from windows to limux..

  • Flashdisk nya harus dikosongin dulu? Atau gapapa ada file2 lainnya juga

  • While screen recording I am facing window flickering issue.. what is solution on that please help me

  • To me I feel Ubuntu Abit sluggish sometime compare to mint. Not sure was it because of visual effects that causes it to be sluggish but definitely feel worst as a freshly install os. Mint however everything just works as good as windows. Application turn on very fast as compare to Ubuntu and windows

  • What I've noticed is that Linux Mint works great on my Intel i systems starting with second generation processors, but it does not offer good drivers for 1gen systems with intel graphics, so working becomes very slow with Linux Mint on my 1gen i7, but it works perfectly with our 2gen i5 and 3gen i5 (and 6gen i5). Too bad, because the 1gen i7 is my favourite laptop (due to greater keybord and better screen aspect ratio than on the newer computers).

  • Thank for the video, i using Linux Mint on my hp Pavillion i7 laptop with 8gb of RAM and SSD, from One year, but some time go in crash, i want test Ubuntu, but dont like the graphical interface system, and i dont know if crash anyway,….maybe depend from the cinnamon enviroment and not from kernel?🤔…maybe mate, or xfce dont do this?🤔

  • NVIDIA graphics are so buggy in Ubuntu, very unstable and massive problems with snaps. Mint on the other hand had no issues what so ever. Ubuntu's software center is a hot mess too! It is so slow to refresh and tends to display packages that have already been updated…. Ubuntu should have NEVER released an LTS with so many serious unresolved issues. Yes, they have fixed some issues but NVIDIA user's are not going to be very happy. I'm sorry but Mint has far better quality control.

  • This is KDE vs gnome. Otherwise it's debian

  • I tried a lot of distros Mint has been the easiest to install the apps I use and I like the looks Ubuntu is not for me I think mint or Zorin is the best for a new person switching from windows Linux is nice because there are so many choices and it's fun watching reviews and trying out different distros. And I love that Linux doesn't shove updates and edge down our throats. I really hate Microsoft for that

  • I prefer Linuxmint , it just work without headache

  • You should have given Linux Mint a half point more because there are hundreds of millions of people around the (3rd) world who can not afford high end computers! (not even "mid-end" computers) … but if you ONLY talk from your own cozy situation I get it.

  • Any one suggest me which is user friendly

  • For awhile, i was tripple booting. Win10, Mint, and Ubuntu. Wiped Ubuntu recently for Linux Mint. I love it! I want to work on its development.

  • Great video! I've used Mint 20.3 and Ubuntu 22.04, and both are great. I use Mint on my older machine, and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS on heavier hardware. I agree with the author that you really can't go wrong with either!

  • Thanks for the in-depth video, as always. I'm new to Linux and Mint is working great. Windows is such a bloated dog now.

  • I'm using Linux Mint rightnow, but I must try for Ubuntu

  • Both distros are good as daily drivers.. However, I think the Cinnamon D.E. looks dated and is in need of a big refresh update to modernize its look with rounded corners, and refresh the applications start menu, the Nemo file manager, and the system settings menu to look more modern too. IMO Cinnamon looks tired, old and past its use by date for 2022..

  • Use Mint, I like the name and green is my favorite color. Thanks for fast and clear comparison.

  • Awesome comparison and review of Ubuntu and Mint. Thank you!
