ubuntu
The new software centre is awesome
Simple expectations. (All gnome based)
1. Battery % and number
2. Drag and drop to Desktop.
3. Inbuilt native gnome extension (but that gnome not Ubuntu)
4. Lockscreen wallpaper. (Hopefully someone knows an app to have Windows Spotlight and Bing wallpapers in rotation)
Great video! I've been using Ubuntu for 13 years and this kind of videos give me hope in a wider adoption.
Regarding the features that I miss most, when searching for files, I wish I could sort the results using the same criteria for sorting files (size, date, etc.). Wouldn't it be a nice addition?
where did you get that tux from. I wanted it but couldn't find anywhere.
Finally the minimal install is the default!
Straight to the point.
Ubuntu is getting better and better
Amazing Ubuntu ❤
what laptop is that
AMD ROCm and NVIDIA Cuda dont work well, I cant install Llama like programm locally
snapd sucks. i always remove it once i installed ubuntu
Ubuntu server 23.10 in Hyper-V on WinSrv2012/2016/2022 have problems with manual installaton
1) vm gen2, all default setting and scsi dvd: The image's hash and certificate are not allowed. = Disable SecureBoot.
2) When language is English then I cannot select not-english kbd like Polish – big problem
3) hv console, tty1 logon > Clipboard > Type clipboard text ctrl+v "12345678" paste as "nm,./*" – still broke and we not can paste psk from keepassxc and cannot login, or paste commands as recovery mode
4) ps -u root |grep hv give ZERO…. no integration out-of-box, LIS must be installed later!
Ubuntu without integration with Hyper-V is stupid or single server but now with FailOverClustering, few DataCenters with Replications etc.!
Thats why we not use ubuntu server who cannot work in Windows Server 2012/2016/2022 Hyper-V out-of-box.
MultiPass cannot be used on Windows Server, he not generate iso with Hyper-V feature.
All this show Ubuntu Server cannot be used, we use >200vm with RockyLinux who works perfect (before CentOS).
I've used Ubuntu in the old days, it was a nice distro. It's sudo apt-get clean still needed from time to time, to clean /var/cache/apt (from what i remember), or packages clean themselves?
What is the terminal GUI you have for system resources at 4:25? Looks like a sexier version of htop
2013: Windows must die
2023: Ubuntu must die
4:15 What is that Windows Task Manager look alike app shown? I want it
The one thing missing from Linux for me? The ability to create a recurring bi-weekly appointment in any calendar app. That Gnome doesn't consider this to be an issue is ridiculous.
Honestly I really like the overall UI. Good work!
When will these guys fix the malicious translation problem, they pulled the iso file, they still couldn't fix it and restore it, what are they doing, are they rediscovering America, more or less a few language files will be changed.
Hey, what’s the laptop that you tested it on?
Tpm encryption provably the most interesting
I have always preferred minimal install glad they make it default
Ubuntu is getting really beautiful
I went to download it to check it out. Downloads are temporarily disabled.
great video Joey, thanks for sharing. may i ask, what is your laptop on 0:30 ?
What is the model of the laptop he is using? At 0:30 , it looks very sleek.
Thanks for taking your "Day off" to make this awesome video!
I have a hp computer with i5 11th Gen 8Gb ddr4 and 500 SSD but when i install Ubuntu i get lags all over the place unlike windows, like when login it gets stuck there and sometimes it just stucks on screen idk what to do i was thinking to have Ububtu as my main OS n move from windows. Any suggestation would be appreciated
Wow this release looks great 😍
Canonical did remove a new installer of ubuntu 23.10 due to translation problem. Luckly, there is a legacy installer that we can use it instead so we can use ubuntu 23.10 what ever we want.
Yes, they did announce that importantly.
Good job Canonical keeping us safe😃
Looks slick, but I'm likely gonna end up waiting for zorin to update to a 24.04LTS base so I can get out of dependency hell for newer software without hopping.
Been watching your videos for years and excellent review 😉
get rid of the unity bar or put it below, thank me later when you gain millions of users back.
Man, Ubuntu is looking awesome. I'm from Windows, and I'm thinking about switching. Love that Task Manager clone and the Activities top-left change. Both of those make me feel more confident in Linux, and I will try this as one of my first distros. Hopefully, those features will ripple throughout the Distro world or be available as add-ons.
So.. where do I get a sparkly tux sticker?
ubuntu really is a good distro now, but I have to boycott them for ideological reasons (their pushing or snap). unfortunate, but anyone who doesn't care has a great OS at their hands here
great presentation.
Solid looking release
I like the minimal installation!
What is the system manager app at 4:15 (the first one)?
Did Ubuntu 23.10 solve the sleep problem for never hardware like AMD Ryzen 7 6800U / 7840U – not being able to returning from sleep or not going to sleep at all?
My latest try was with Ubuntu 22.10 which didn't manage to solve this with AMD Ryzen 7 6800U – probably because of a lower power state for the CPU not being supported.
100% broken on Surface Pro 2. Don't bother, even installer will crash immediately.
I hope Ubuntu eventually rewrites the Unity Desktop in flutter and brings it back, that would be awesome
Might even be the return of Ubuntu Touch
I know you've been thinking about doing more videos than just these release overviews and I think they would be great! You are a great presenter on screen
Is the python version still tied to the desktop? last time i upgrade to python 3.11 gnome stopped working..
Downvoted because it is another of this worthless GUI descriptions.
Why not talking about the technical changes?
