"Unable to locate likewise-open5" in 2020 so I guess this no longer works
It's a bit old video, it's still applies to newer systems? Cheers
Microphone Mesh for heavy respiratory breathing . Priceless
Hi Pete wanted to ask if you could please make video that you are able to join a Ubuntu 16.04 to a windows 2012 server thanks.
I received the below error :
Error : ERRROR_ASSERTION_FAILURE [code 0x0000029c]
Hi, can any one help me with how to join Ubuntu 16.x and later version to Windows AD and Login with AD credentials? I have Windows 2012 AD as the only way to authenticate in the domain.
likewise-open5 is no longer available i think
Hi, Can you please do it in a vise versa environment. I have installed openLDAP on my Ubuntu 16.04 wth phpldapadmin (for GUI access). I want to connect my windows machines to the Ubuntu domain. Can someone suggest me any ideas?
Excellent. Thank you.
Are you a policeman by the way? You sound like a policeman.
have you tried the same but log in to a openLDAP in a centOS 6 from an ubuntu workstation? that's what i am amptenting to do right know, i need to use a use a shared printer in a windows server AD, but my user has to be in the openLDAP domain
Excellent tutorial, I look forward to giving this a spin later 🙂
satansaysimnuts It is a pain in the ass to join one open system into network that uses proprietary protocol (Active directory). AD is not the same as Network. And you probably don't know that Internet is created on *nix, that Bill Gates said: "I see little commercial potential for the internet for the next 10 years" , and then Microsoft copied TCP stack (a hart of internet) from BSD unix like open source system 😀
I found out a while ago that stopping the avahi-daemon helps a lot.
> sudo stop avahi-daemon
"… hostnames ending with .local … are resolved either via the multicast domain name service (mDNS) and/or local Domain Name System (DNS) servers. The implementation of both approaches on the same network can be problematic, however, so resolving such names via “unicast” DNS servers has fallen into disfavor…" – From Wikipedia article ".local" (YouTube won't let me paste the link)
HAHAHAH … .local is fine.. just make sure you use MYDOMAIN.local not mydomain.local and it's a snap!
i tried again and.. it really doesn't like to join a .local domain.
12.04 was jacked up.. so i got 13.04 to work.. i'm now rockin the domain ligins and lovin it!
FAN TAZ TICK article/vlog. I'll be trying this on 12.04 tonight in a few minutes.

The Group Policy restrictions are available in ubuntu (let's say the restriction about desktop wallpaper ) ?
