**This only works if you and your friend (or brother/sister) are in the same house (ie. connected to the same internet connection)**
Summary of video:
The first thing you want to do to play Minecraft multiplayer with friends is to create/join the singleplayer world that you want to play with your friend in. Then, in the pause menu, click “Open to LAN”, and keep track of the number that shows up in the chat. Next, go into your Windows command prompt. After you have this terminal open, type in “ipconfig”, and the first number after “IPV4 Address” is what you will need. It will look something like this: “192.168.x.xxx”.
Now, on your friend’s Minecraft, go to the “Multiplayer” tab. Then, click on the button on the bottom that says “Direct Connection”. In this little box, put in the IPV4 address you got earlier, followed by a colon, then the 5-digit LAN number that you got when you opened the game to LAN. Should look like: “192.168.x.xxx:XXXXX”. Then, your friend can click Join, and you guys should now be playing Minecraft in the same world as each other! Have fun!
Note: This way to play Minecraft multiplayer with friends works in just about all current and past versions, and will most likely continue to work in future versions and releases.
Thanks again for watching, and have fun playing multiplayer Minecraft with your friends!
