Using OpenChain for IP Management – Jimmy Ahlberg, Ericsson AB

Using OpenChain for IP Management – Jimmy Ahlberg, Ericsson AB

This talk will cover how the OpenChain specification can be used as a tool for Intellectual Property (IP) management, and get you talking the same language as your organizations IP team. The OpenChain (ISO/IEC : 5230) can be used as the basis for how an organization can manage and leverage its Open Source dependencies when viewed IP assets. This talk will give a walk through of the OpenChain specification showing how its relevant to IP management. Providing examples of how to engage with your organizations IP and legal teams to make them your biggest supporters when it comes to license compliance, all using the OpenChain specification as the basis of a productive collaboration. It will also showcase how the OpenChain specification, when adopted will provide business value to in-house IP and legal teams. It’s envisioned that participants in the sessions will be well armed with an understanding of how they can engage with their in-house IP and legal teams to adopt OpenChain, arguments to be used, and potential pitfalls to avoid. If an organization has already adopted OpenChain, this sessions is hopefully inspiration to further leverage that adoption into business value for their organization.
